Will I need to pull the battery to install the shock?

Hmmm, not sure.

Depends on your manual dexterity. I can but many cannot. I've dropped a few nuts into the void and had to go searching. If you've any doubt just remove the battery.

I've got a set of assembly instructions on my computer somewhere. I can send them to you in a pm. Helped me out the first time. I had to pull the battery. I looked at how tight that was and fully expected to drop the bolts down into the abyss never to be seen again, so I thought I'd save more time just removing everything in the way. Use your owner's manual for the steps to remove the battery. It's pretty straightforward and easy after you've done it a couple of times.

The spring weight on the shock is a measure of about 12 lbs of body weight per turn of the preload collar. They come set with the top of the collar a certain distance below the top of the shock body, and that is for a 200 lb rider I believe. You add a turn for each additional 12 lbs you need beyond or below that.

Most of that hardware you can get at Lowe's/Home Depot. The long front mount bolt that's only threaded at the end, maybe not. Maybe not the large acorn nut for it, either. Everything else though I ended up having to get from Lowe's because it wasn't included in my kit either.

I have taken to wearing the 3/4 helmet since picking up the Electra. There is just not enough air movement for the full face. Some and recommended the 1/2 helmet. I’m just not so sure of that.
I don’t want to mess with the windscreen until I get the seat swapped in.

I was thinking that, but didn’t know if they were a higher grade than the soft steel at the box stores. Maybe I will hit up ACE hardware.

I made the long bolt at the front from discarded FLHXS shift linkage and some acorn nuts.

Went to ACE and got some stainless hardware. Then a frustrating search of videos, pictures and parts diagrams to figure out the orientation of the front mounting bracket. I got a new to me saddle installed. The front bolt is a little to long for my tast, so when my parts get in I will swap in the new bolt assy.

You could have removed the plastic doodad from the tank. I did.

Heading to Los Ranchito in the morning, so that will give me some base input on the new set up. Just going around the block, it is much higher and I am getting more air. Still flat footing it but only just a little bend in the knees. Bumps are smoother and mirrors need adjustment, and maybe the handlebars too.

That leaves a lot of gap, I actually had it off when I was trying to figure out the orientation of the bracket and didn’t like the space left over.

I fiddled with the front bracket for a bit, too. It can basically only go on the one way, though. I left the plastic doodad as well.

The cop cycles come with a long stem mirror about 1" longer than stock or I have seen threaded extensions although not for a while. The longer stem mirrors make up for the added height.

Yeah but they are not convex and vibrate to a point of uselessness.

What about the fairing mounted mirrors? How are they?

They will be useless with that seat. I have added the extensions on stock mirrors on FLHTC to let me see a wider field of view in our horrible traffic and expressways. I have not needed it on my Road Glide Ultra.

May need a taller shield now unless you're riding with a full face. Or maybe not. With my tall seat, I'm looking over my shield about 3-4 inches, and it's fine.
