It stands for "Don't use" - and I never do.
I start the bike and then double tap the button to put it in S1 where it stays unless I get to some fun twisties and feel like some S3 fun. I don't need to be in 6th gear at 50kph so D is totally pointless IMO.

Has any one installed an after market LOUD horn? If so, what brand and where did you mount it?

    How about driving lamps.

I have a $20 high tone horn from Advance auto parts on mine. Also Baja Designs S2 Sport lights mounted on my SW Motech crash bars. The lights are wired with a Skene dimmer and setup for 20% brighness with the low beam and full power when switched to high beam. I don't ride at night much, so I can't speak too well to running them on high, but they do great for conspicuity during the day with the low beam. I've had fewer people pull out in front of me since I added them.

Denali Soundbomb Compact. I used the Denali mount in the stock location.

You all know everything about these ATs and I'm brand new with a 2019 L. I read that the ATAS has taller bars than the L. My bars need to come up an inch. Why couldn't I get a set of ATAS bars and the ATAS front brake line. It would have to be longer, yes? I know they are different part numbers

Are the handlebars that different or is it the bar mounts/risers or a combination of both for the additional height?

You'd probably just need the ATAS brake line from master cylinder to ABS junction.

I installed the SoundBomb Mini when OEM horn died. Not much louder than stock. FIAMs at CDN Tire would have been cheaper. Same specs.

Hmmm, I dont know about the bar or riser.. Cycle world says the bars are 1.3" higher, screen 80mm higher, and seat taller and flatter. The seat statement is accurate as I switched to a 2018 ATAS seat and it is all those things. More research indicated. UPDATE: The part # difference is in the risers. Better news as they are 1/2 the price of bars. Thank you for the tip

It seems the part #s are the same for the lower hose and different for upper. The upper hose is probably the longer one.

I used the Denali mount (kind of expensive for a bent piece of stock, but it fits..). I can take some pics if you want, but there are also some pics up at several places online. Here's one set - https://twistedthrottle.com/shop/el...-bracket-honda-crf1000l-africa-twin-16-rev02/
The only issue is that it sits a bit close to the inside of the crashbar (mine are swmotech) so in a major off I could see the horn getting broken or the bracket bent (or worst case the mounting holes it uses in the case cover getting buggered and requiring chasing with a tap or a helicoil/timesert). That said, I did lowside it on pavement on that side (left) and it came out without a scratch (the horn anyway..).

I've never tried the mini, but have the compact on the AT and a split on another bike and they are both pretty damn loud.

Funny but the Denali looks exactly like the Stebel Nautilus only it has a lot more numbers in the price tag.

I have the Stebel on my street bikes. People hear them on the fwy.

I see. I thought stock location was used. Did you have to wire separate fuse/relay for it? I read somewhere it's 10A power requirement?
Not ideal, I was hoping for just replacing stock one in stock location, but I guess there is nothing that's loud and plug and play?

I used an Eastern Beaver PC8. I already had heated grips, a tender pigtail and a Gerbing's pigtail on the battery and wanted to throw on aux lights, the soundbomb and a USB/voltmeter in the blanking plug on the dash and there was no way I was shoehorning all that in around that awful stock battery box. The PC8 was my chance to clean all that up. I used EB's power link system and horn connector.

I am not aware of anything super loud that goes in the stock location, but admittedly it has been a while since I did the install and I don't remember everything I looked at before going the route I did. There may be newer stuff out since then too that is louder. I was a daily year-round commuter before covid and the soundbombs will definitely stop texting/instachatgrambooking drivers from merging on you. They just ignored my stock horn. This puts the fear of God into them. :D

Does anybody know if the 2020 Standard AT's windscreen mount spacing is the same as the older Non-AS bikes? I really like that new low screen and would love to try it on my old bike.

150 miles per tank? I've been kind of curious to see what other AT DCT owners get for mileage, which is more about tires, riding conditions and throttle happy-ness.

I've never seen the light start to blink before 170 miles, and have reached the bicentennial with a quart to go on a couple occasions. I have an MRA windscreen, Barkbusters and full set of Outback Motortek fences around the beast; and the old school throttle body ('16 '17). Even fully loaded at 70 mph on the freeway (i.e. top gear no shifting) I get at least 170 before reserve. Backroads and around town I'm a S1, S2 and manual kind of rider. Switching from the stock tires to Heidenaus with a 140mm in the back made me less throttle happy, but they're also knobbier. Haven't seen the bicentennial since then.

Last year PG&E shut off the power from Mendocino to SF California and I had to milk it 150 miles with all my gear on board. I made it with room to spare but it was fun to hypermile it by staying below 65 and drafting motorhomes. I think I even used D-mode.

I ride my DCT in S3, with 705s on the wheels, hammering it on (paved) backroads much as I can. I'm usually seeing ~35-40mpg averages. No idea what my run distance to empty is, I just refill when it gets down to a bar. It's certainly not the constant 200+ I got from my Tenere, but it's so much more fun.

If I'm riding on the freeway at highway speeds and fully loaded ill get about 170 before the light turns on. Now back roads and keeping it under 60 ill get 200 to 220 before the light turns on.

17 dct bark buster hand guards, astride crash bars givi short wind screen. Giantloop mototrker bags packed pretty much full. 32l sw motec top duffle and a mosoko moto scout tank bag. I haven't weighed everything but I'd assume I'm around 80 to 100 pounds of gear. Then me at 250 in full gear. IMG_20200811_211620_582.jpg
