Pinlock ready shield available for $35, the anti-fog pinlock insert $41ish. I am definitely in the market for a new helmet, looked thru all the helmets from FortNine yesterday. No hurry, it's all moot anyways - I rolled the KLRs into the house last night (snow in the forecast).

Have you tried a neck buff ?
Works good for me. Different thickness available. I use a thick one for ice riding and a super light one for summer. Very comfy.
The first time I ever saw one was in Italy. Bought one when I was riding over there 10 years ago and have been using one ever since.

I have. I use them all the time; when it is really hot, I wet it and it cools me down. I use that with the hood in cold weather, the hood has a built in nose shield that kind of directs my exhaust down and away from the goggles. I wear goggles often, even in summer because dust doesn't get inside as much as just a visor which gets quite dusty.

I have a Nowind balaclava for snowmobiling. The head part is fleece with the exposed part having a "windproof" nylon. Works really well for snowmobiling. It certainly beats the "liberally applied duct tape" on your face to avoid frost bite during races like the old I-500!

I run my snowmobile gear for these cold days. Klim arctic balaclava and viper goggles fit in my krios pro with the visor down. Oxford heated grips are the cats ass

My helmet did not come with a chin curtain. They are available, but hjc expects you to pay extra. I'll probably get one to reduce wind noise - may not be able to use it in cold weather.

I'd heard of "Pinlock" but never took the time to find out exactly what it was till now. It's like a high tech "frost shield"
Some of you must remember those... When I was a young kid, winterizing the family car consisted of: 10 wt oil in the crankcase,
grip tires on the back (rear wheel drive), and frost shields on the windows...

I have the Milwaukee hoodie and a Venture Heated jacket. You will be disappointed in the hoodie for motorcycle use. The battery life isn't great on high. Loving it. It’s so easy to ride. I felt immediately comfortable and familiar with it. I think I need a slip on exhaust to give it a little more character. Kinda hard to only have vanilla Honda after having rocky road bmw!

Snow... first real day of winter!

Helmet related... I ordered an HJC dual sport helmet today from FortNine - hope it fits OK. A thought occurred to me regarding purchasing helmets - one of the big complaints retailers have is people coming in, trying on helmets, and then buying mail order. With the Covid transmission risk ATM, can't see mc dealers being too keen on people trying on helmets, gloves, etc.

I have a couple of them now. 35 yrs ago there wasn`t much for balaclavas. I still carry duct tape though.

Duct tape ....wouldn't leave home without it ...lol

I am hopeful there will be a warm stretch..... the WR is parked, but the VStrom is available for a couple runs if the ambient temp. goes above 8.

That was before it was -15 one morning........then he remembered how cold 5 feels! 5 is a great temperature in the spring......not so much in the fall.

I'm fine puttering around with anything above 0 if there's no snow on the road. But that certainly won't be at highway speeds for long.

The long range forecast is not looking good.

Game over, coldest 4am commute so far this year has been -9. I am a neck buff believer, but mine are all summer wear (still like them in winter)
Anywho, if you Google Amazon it's 13.99 plus 7.50 shipping? 20 bucks great price.

Large cape tucks under the jacket keeps neck warm, heavy material yet my helmet is comfy with it on, no wind noise now on my cheapo helmet. Warmest I've been yet, been a winner for me.
