How, and how much, water do you carry? Speaking from a vast amount of personal experience, booze necessitates additional H2O intake. As does all that libtard shit like hiking and forest raking.

This libtard has always stood by the saying after many many backpacking trips with the wifey that the only thing worse than not enough booze is too much booze.

I know every area you ride might be different, but generally how many people a day do you see when riding. After you leave town do you see quite a few off roaders or just a few. When camping is your group generally the only one around?

Never really been to desert areas of the US west that much. I was wondering just how much seclusion you can get.

Again, thanks for putting in the time to put up these reports and pictures. They are entertaining. Light hearted diversion like this are most welcome in 2020.

Yeah, we are working on a document for the Adventure Rider Fundamentalist. "The Minimalist Manifesto" This is definitely just suggested guidelines rather than hard rules as it's hard to get a Fundamentalist to follow any sort of rule to begin with.

We run into very few riders. It is not uncommon to see "Adventure Riders" in some of the towns but they rarely seem to get off the pavement. We never camp where anyone else is around. Seclusion is not an issue.

F*ckin' hell man, my eyes . Almost became the real-life burning man from the angle of that shot...LOL. I always use gas to start fires when camping, much easier than finding a ton of kindling or packing paper, etc

Great shots man, so cool to see all those brats skewered on the adjusta. I've seen you wrap 'em in tortillas before too; solid. I took my boys out camping this past weekend and used one of your previous shots as inspiration for what to cook - bacon wrapped chicken thigh fronted by a package of brats. Had the featherweight adjusta out too - it was perfect for the single brat and then the peeps we discovered in the pantry before heading out. In case you're wondering, peeps don't roast like marsh mellows - they just kinda melt...lol. Hope you don't mind me sharing.

Minimum H2O for a day is:

• 1 Old Crow bottle strapped to the bike
• 100oz water bladder in the backpack

So that's like 1 1/4 gallons total. If it's not excessively hot and you make one stop a day in a town, that amount works pretty good. This trip I had two old crow bottles on the bike and Hotstuff had one. I also had a water filter along which I don't always carry. The filter is nice. Unlimited water without actually carrying the weight.

Awesome!! Good deployment. You gotta be careful though with putting brats on the fork in that position. With the little hole in the end, it can appear that you're eating dick. Blurry Murray demonstrated this for us once (as @Sparrowhawk pointed out) and it was quite amusing.

We've had some cold weather and snow here in Utah recently. Looks like we'll see a warm up next week so I'm hoping to get out for another ride. Dark at 5:30 or so now. This becomes difficult at camp. The tendency to ingest too much Crow is a big concern when you're hanging around the fire for like 4 hours every night.

A minimalist manual seems oxymoronic. All you need is 1 acronym: K.I.S.S.

Original plans called for the manual to be printed on toilet paper (thus giving it two uses) but the Council has run into a bit of a problem as Charmin doesn't seem to be interested in starting a publishing company. Proposal letters have been sent to Zig-Zag and Nissan Ramen Noodles companies in hopes either one of them would be willing to collab....

Or just moronic? I mean, how stupid do you need to be to not remember:

2. Don't pack a chair (which actually falls under the number one rule)

However, as Adventure Rider Fundamentalism grows into a loosely organized religion, we will need some documentation, hence the Minimalist Manifesto.

Wow. Another spectacular daybreak. This is the type of stuff that we yearn for through the cold winter months.



It was our last morning on the trail. This was just the perfect place for the last camp.



I started in on the morning ritual (minus the crow). Once again, we took our time enjoying the morning.



Hotstuff got a cup of coffee in bed. This is perhaps one of her favorite things. Hard to argue when you look at the scene in the photo below.



We were all packed up and were hopping on the bikes to fire them up. The 950 was dead.

Now, this is somewhat of an amusing chapter. This relates back to my battery issue from last spring where an Anti-gravity battery crapped out on me. They warrantied it and gave me a new one. Of course, I was pretty skeptical about the new one. Who is to say that this one won’t crap out also?

Anyway, the bike was dead. No nothing when I turned on the key. But wait! Did I turn on the key or was it already on? Shit. Maybe I left it on last night? We had checked the mileage at camp after we shut off the bikes and I had to turn on the key on to read the odometer. All I can think is that I didn’t turn it off. Seems odd because you’d think we would’ve noticed the headlight on. Or did the dam battery crap out?

Well, I was getting ready to get the tow strap out so Hotstuff could tow me for a “bump start” when I remembered something. The Anti-gravity battery has a feature on it called “Re-Start”. Let me tell you, I didn’t think much of this when I bought the battery. I basically poo-pooed it. Who needs all this extra fancy shit? The fancy circuitry is probably why the first one died. I didn’t buy the battery because of the Re-Start technology. I didn’t want Re-Start. I bought it because it was the only Anti-gravity model that Rocky Mtn ATV/MC carries that fits the 950.

So I pull off the seat to access the battery. I then push the little button on top of the battery which kind of clicks. Bam! The gauges come to life and the engine fires when I hit the starter button. I’m dumbfounded that it actually worked.

Minimalist battery. Five pounds less under the seat, and no jumper pack to carry.

Really, the only reason I run those batteries is they are light weight, as you mentioned @NoelJ. But I got to admit, I was impressed by the restart technology.

I'm a fan of bikes with restart technology known as a "kickstarter"!

But just ignore me. I'm just jealous you're riding so much.

Ya, I left my key on overnight about 40 miles from the closest town last fall. Screwed, no Kickstarter on my 2017 KTM, then I remembered I had just put in an antigravity battery with the restart, pressed the little button fired right up. My buddy was shocked, my heart rate returned to normal.

Be careful Joe. One little lick from the lollipop of convenience always leads to another. Next thing you'll be putting a cruise control on the pig and running tubeless.
