Riding around the back roads of Reno, came across a regular sight around here - wild horses. These guys were about 5 miles from the center of downtown Reno (your can see the Reno downtown area in the first photo). IMG_9922.jpeg

First time changing all the fluids in my newly acquired '12 Ural. Had to take it for a spin just to make sure all went well.

It was in the high 30's at noon time, so we just went to Rockport Harbor for picnic lunch.

Rode 260 miles to Caddo Lake to catch the colors on the bald cypress trees. The worms were bad this year so not a lot of bright color. Went out in a boat to the middle of the lake where the worms could not go... but rather than a sunrise, the fog got us instead.

Taking a scenic route mid-day. stopped at a farm, where they had just harvested the trees. Could never understand why some people get so upset when trees are harvested but say nothing when a cornfield is stripped bare.

    Tree harvest.jpeg

It's not like they are not going to replant the field... like here.

Walked into the brush to relieve myself of the morning coffee overdose, spotted movement...

Turned out to be a great day for riding in spite of the early morning fog.

    Beautiful rig!

I love Hwy 88, and used to ski Kirkwood back in the late 70's early 80's. Recently my son lived in Ione over on the Jackson side of the hill and when visiting from Southern California we will go up Hwy 395 and cross over on Hwy 88.

A little aviation/weather geeking out: The Lenticular Cloud seen in your first picture is also called a "Mountain Wave" and a common Sierra Nevada Range phenomena indicating high winds aloft. They are something you want to stay far, far away from in a small plane. Sometimes they will stack up in multiple layers.

At lower altitude in the turbulence and shear zone, you can get "Standing Wave Clouds" which are really cool, but again not something to get remotely close too in a little private airplane.

Good riding today. High of 35, but heated gear works just fine. 160 miles today.

Wife and I did rounds on the rig this morning. Wished grandmom a happy turkey day, then headed to her parents to do the same.

When we arrived, her dad was like a kid in a candy shop looking at the Ural. He hopped in the sidecar and demanded a ride. So, we did.

A quick jaunt around the block. Halfway through he yelled "open 'er up!"

    "It's opened Frank, it's opened." -48mph

Got back and he was grinning ear to ear.

Thanksgiving 2020. This is as close as family gets this year.

Went for a short ride today and ended up coming home like this.

Just stopped as we were riding home, and would not start, just like 18 months ago when I had the hall effect sensor replaced. Started about an 90 mins later when the tow truck arrived. WTF. Will go for a ride tomorrow and see how far I get. Starting to lose that loving feeling with this one. Love riding it, but give me a break. Last ridden 2 weeks ago and no issues.
