I'm planning to do the Green Swamp Loop Sunday 2/7. The loop starts in Zephyrhills at 301 and Chancey Rd and heads east then north around the swamp and west then south back through some really nice roads near San Antonio. Lunch will be at Poncho's Villa if the wait is not too long. Many other options close by. Who's in?

Just did some of that route recently. Some good riding up there.

So me and a friend took our 1200s out for a little ride today.

You see, last week, we went out to Lake Placid with three other riders on Harley’s. When we arrived to a sign that said, “Pavement Ends,” we had to turn around. Wouldn’t want to get those shiny hogs all dusty!


So today we returned to see where the road went.


We met in Parrish at 9am on a foggy Florida morning. We took Rutland Road down to the 64, then rode east to Zolfo Springs. We went south to Gardner where Fish Branch Road took us east...on a nice, sandy road. We must’ve passed through dozens of orange orchards, most of them being harvested right now. Though there was only 4 miles of dirt, we continued on country roads up to County Line Road east of Bowling Green.


Once back at Highway 17, we passed Gloria’s (the parking lot was full of bikes) and Smokin’ Joe’s BBQ as we rode just a few miles south to Tacos Isabel, right before Wachula. We munched on the delicious food as we discussed the day’s ride.


Joe had a route he wanted to show me so we headed back to Bowling Green where we took the back roads—through more orange groves—to Highway 62. We did a quick ride around Bunker Hill Loop, including about a mile of dirt, then headed back west to Parrish. Later, we realized that Bunker Hill Road connected to Taylor Grade Road which leads to Wimauma on the 674. Next time...


It was 180-mile day for me. Little traffic, great weather and a fun route.

Bunker Hill and Taylor Grade combine to form what us flatlanders call Tail of the Gecko.

I’m probably down for that ride on the 7th. I just did 450 miles to get home on the KLR so I need a while for my hands and feet to regain feeling.

Is the ride on the 7th open for anyone to attend? My WONDERFUL WIFE had her bionic knee installed 1/06/21 and is already up walking around. Hopefully she will be to a point where I can leave her for a few hours while I go out for a ride.

This could so easily be somewhere in Europe , nice to see some back roads over on your side of the pond

Update 2/2 - Local weather forecast shows 50% chance of rain on Super Bowl Sunday. Makes sense to bump the swamp ride a week to the 14th. PM me if you can make it.
