Hitting the trail on the 13th. Beyond that, no plan. I figure anywhere between 6-8 days. I will stay in motels, so that means getting off route in places. (I will carry a tarp, etc just in case) That also means no setting up or taking down a camp, having to dry wet gear etc. I have an old college roommate in Selinsgrove, Pa. which is on the way home and I hope to stop in there for a visit.

I will ride what I can each day, stop when I'm tired. Haven't done anything like this since 2014, so I'm not sure how will I'll hold up.

Awesome that you are making some concrete plans. Still up for meeting in the Uwharries or something closer to you and Pineygroveshop for a Meet and Greet and a day ride to stretch out the muscles and hardening up the derrière in prep for the MABDR? And, how averse might you be to one or more of your new friends inviting themselves along on this MABDR trip (if personalities and trip style don't clash)?

I have to arrange someone to stay with my wife when I'm away, so I only get a few days per year. I'd love to do the Ferguson thing, but I'm not sure I can swing it. Might do a day at the Uwharries.
Daughter and I rode down to Carthage today to eat at the PikNPig. Took the NC700.

Did anybody mount the skid plate yet? If so, did you remove the canister etc.

I did the plate (very easy) but did not delete the canister, but it would be very simple to do and reverse the delete.

Yes, mounted plate. Might have seen the canister fall off.

Mounted the plate but decided to go after the canister later. It was a nice day for a ride

I have also started booking out on the same itinerary, time scheduled off. Have some fresh rubber on order as the stock stuff won't do for this trip, and the rear is almost kaput anyway after about 6,300 mi. Have to see if my old Navy buddy and Best Man could stand a drop in visit on the way back down. He is in Maryland in line with a reasonable track back to NC.

    Depends™... which weekend in May?

I’m currently thinking about riding my Himalayan to the Ozarks the last couple weeks of the month, but if that plan falls through (it’s dependent on other people’s availability) I would be interested in NC.

The state of Arkansas was kind enough to put together a motorcycle riding guide with thirty-something mapped out rides, including a half-dozen "dual sport adventure" rides... and then put GPX tracks for them on its tourist website. Figured the least I could do is go ride some of them! Three years ago, when I had a GS, I did parts of a couple of these rides ("Pocahontas to Powhatan" and "Ozark National Forest") on the hottest and stickiest week of the summer (RR here). Now that I have replaced the GS (which was just too tall, too heavy, too complicated and too German for me) with a Himalayan, I am looking at going back and re-riding these routes, and maybe a part of the "Natural Dam to Boxley Valley" ride (between about the Pig Trail and highway 16).

Both weekends look open for me so far, but... 5/9 is Mother's Day, or so claims SWMBO / Sainted Wife
