I've only driven that once on 4 wheels. The whole time thinking what a great 2 wheel ride it would be.

Big Horn Mountains, Hwy 14A. I should probably do a short ride report on this trip.

When I got it last year the dealer had that one and a white one. I was leaning toward the white, but my wife said the red one. You see who won that discussion.

Tour pack looks good on there. Might get one myself. Is it an HD part or after market?

Beartooth Pass is a great ride but you do have to pay close attention to the weather. It's not a place you want to get caught in high winds, heavy rain, or near-freezing temperatures. The nearby Chief Joseph Scenic Byway is also a great ride -fewer switchbacks, more broad sweeping curves.

Our choice came down time wise to Beartooth or Chief Joseph. The guys I was with have ridden both. Weather was perfect and Beartooth was more toward home, so that was their choice for me as a first timer.

I took my Triumph Bonneville to my local Harley dealer today for a state inspection. I'm having an ignition issue with my 2003 Electra Glide. This dealer is within a few miles of my house while the independent guy I usually use is 45 minutes away, so I inquired about their fee for diagnostics. "We can't work on your bike because of its age; we can't work on anything older than 2005," the guy says. I was a little surprised at this. The more I thought about it, I guess if they don't want to be covered up with work on lots of old bikes, they have to set a limit somewhere; but I'd just never considered a Harley dealer wouldn't work on a Harley. I don't know how common this is, but it is a bit of a caveat to the common boast about the strength of Harley's strong dealer network--if only for us poor folks who have to ride such ancient motorcycles.

Honda said the same to me. they would not work on an old 400 Supersport. My nephew just trailered his Aprilia Tuono in to the dealer and they wouldn't work on that because of its age. That bike is probably only 10 years old. Crazy.

Has anyone heard this from a Harley or BMW dealer? I see more old ones on the road than anything else. Except maybe gold wings.

I'm really surprised to hear this about Harley, especially the year they picked as a cut off. I would think they would use a 'platform' as a cut off, ie twin cam which came out in 1999 I believe. Since an '06 is the same as a 2000.
