I don't have really anything to add, other then i have enjoyed reading your ride reports RTWPaul. Having young kids at home, i know there is no chance i will get to travel anything like you are for quite some time. So i love reading your descriptions and all your content, and getting to live a little vicariously through it.

Really hope that the negative comments didn't put you off of here for good. I suspect there are many others like me who read, enjoy, and never comment. Maybe we/I should be better at at least hitting the "like" buttons so that there is more positive feedback to help with the bad?

Don't think he's riding less. In fact, more time for riding if you're not stopping to tell everyone about it.
Don't hold your breath him coming back, might get to like it.

    did Paul check out here?
i missed the episode with the misanthropist who seemed to spoil the RR and Paul's mood.

i used to work in the hospitality industry and know how one complainer can spoil a lot but i learned to ignore it.
although i still would seethe for a while.

Paul, please come back, your RR is one of the top 3!!!
it's the reason why many of us check in here.

A number of years ago, approaching retirement and considering ADV riding and entire TAT, I needed in depth information from someone with credibility. I had not ridden since in my 30s and needed to choose and outfit a bike. Found RTWPaul’s DR650 build and rides. Made my decision from that and have done the TAT, MABDR, WABDR, IDBDR and more. Hope you come back here but completely understand. It’s a lot of effort to keep a ride report going. At the level you accomplished it is phenomenal. I have noticed several talented contributors have disappeared from this forum to our loss.

Sure am missing your pics and report. Look everyday hoping you will return but understand the frustration.

The type of person who isn't patient enough to get past the splash screen is the same kind of person who wouldn't lift a finger to understand or appreciate the high quality content you've contributed to this forum over the years. I'm very sure that chronicling your endeavors for the world's benefit is a lot less fun than than the experience conveyed and have complete respect for how much or how little you choose to do in the future. Thanks for the insight, knowledge and inspiration.

By a strange coincidence, so friends of mine came out to ride Colorado the other day. One was on a 500 EXC. Just so happened his motor locked up (presumably oil pump failure?). Not saying anything about anything, just thought it was funny timing. haha

All bikes have the odd catastrophic failure from time to time. its even happened to DR650's (3rd gear) and I think rtwPaul had the odd DR failure in the past. Recently watched an Aussie WR250R owner on YT showing his conrod punching a hole in the cases and the bike was pretty new. Everyone says that those motors are bulletproof. I will bet that there will be the odd failure of a T7 soon.

Was that Brendan with RidingWithTom, from a few months back? Poor guy, that was catastrophic :yikes I seem to recall the folks at Yamaha wanted to take a look at that for analysis as to what caused it, because it was so uncharacteristic.

could not agree more!! All machines have the potential to fail at some point, no matter what color they are.

However, if Paul doesn’t get his act together and start running genuine organic, non GMO, cage free, synthetic, friction defying oil from my favorite Fortune 500 oil company… His bike will spontaneously combust!!! And I will judge him and ridicule him from my keyboard. All while ignoring the fact that I currently don’t even own a motorcycle…

My WRR with just over 17K miles locked up after the oil pump's plastic idler gear failed over 2,000 miles from home. Yamaha Corporate covered parts and labor replacing every single internal part between the transmission and the valve cover, and that was during its second Y.E.S. extension (Yamaha Extended Service). Couldn't have asked for better coverage.
