I don’t use BBQ sauce, that’s for people who can’t cook.

Thanks for your route & saloon recommendations! Definitely going that way. :-)

I'll create some gpx tracks for the whole route. None of my Garmin maps show the 160-to-Bird Springs Rd route, that _is_ shown in Googlemaps!

I test rode the 990 today for an hour and a bit on back roads. Everything is good enough to go. Well, other than my shoulder that began acting up from a very ancient dislocation and rotator cuff tear ages ago, back when even street bikes were kicked to start and gas was real and cheap.
    Ah, well.

I'll take it really gently and skip my planned up the coast and over the big hills route. The upside to that is it gives me a few more days on the push bike.

    Hi all,

Liked this too, so tried make this in to a loop based on the info you gave and some Pahrump tracks I found on Trails | OFF-ROAD Nevada (nv.gov)... using bascamp... Looks right or is there a better (maybe even more challenging) route to do for this on small bikes (i'll be on a 500exc)?

You're route is fine. Just a long day. Also keep on mind that the routes might have some damage from rain and that the elevation changes will have some good temperature swings.

The roads in and out of Good Springs have a lot of UTV traffic on them, so expect lots of washboard chop, two way traffic, and tourists driving machines like they are the only people on the face of the planet.

Speaking of routes.... I'll be riding in and trying to make it a little interesting, so this isn't in the immediate Pahrump area but still roughly relevant. There's a road I've been eyeing for a couple of years but haven't ever been able to try it yet - curious if anyone has done it. From google maps it looks fine, but wheels on the ground could be a different story.

It starts at the top of the pass over the Slate Range on Trona Wildrose Rd, heads down the north slope of the mountains and then cuts over to Ballarat.

I'm an OK (at best) rider and will be on loaded up 690... Any dirt I'd be hitting on the way in I'd want to be pretty easy so I can keep moving and make time. This route looks like it crosses a couple washes, but I'm hoping that's the end of anything particularly tricky.
