Does anyone know what the correct way to adjust the shifter position on a cam head GS is? Is it fine to remove the screw and move it on the splines or should this adjustment be made with the linkage? I notice there is a mark on spline shaft where it lines up with the gap on the shifter where you bolt it on.

I would like to move the shifter just a hair higher to make more room for my boot. Thanks

Both are acceptable, so long as you maintain clearance for movement. Shifting a spline moves a lot, linkage adjustments can fine tune.

    Copy that Jim.

I posted the question because I thought I read somewhere that BMW didn’t want the shifter moved on the splines for some reason but I couldn’t find that again when I searched.

It is possible to move the shifter on the splines , not sure why they would recommend against it.

In your case, using the linkage would likely give you the adjustment you need. How to fine adjust.
