This is the wild west - so I guess I am now an outlaw.
Back on the road... My wife is going to kill me. Sorry, Paige! I was cruising down the road and stopped to take a pic and the ground was soft. So, I went to pull out my puck (I have been keeping all my receipts in the puck pocket) when all the sudden the wind blew 1000 mph and a bunch of receipts came flying out. I was grabbing for them and up, up, up, and away they went. So long for balanced books! I guess I should buy a bunch of stuff and blame it on lost receipts, LOL.
Another thing happened a while back that I said I was going to remember...I just remembered. I was blasting down the road and started getting hit by bugs...bang, bang, splat, splat. This happened for a while. I thought, man this farm road has a bunch of bugs...bang, splat, bang! There was a big rig in front of me, and we were just buzzing along when we came to a stop in the road and I realized that the rig was carrying bees. A diesel full of bees! He was making a bunch of orphan bees. No, I did not get a pic and no, he did not turn over. LOL LOL
Next stop, Sturgis. This little gas station let me use their WiFi.
Any Federal Property!
Is there a dislike button?
Gear RR. Feeling kinship (see name). Let me know if you go north from Sturgis.
Made it to Sturgis. This white building is owned by the Hells Angels...they were not home. Two more states down. Do you ever forget the last time you took a shower? I still brush my teeth but you can forget bout deodorant.
CHIP...this town is so dead. Some guy at a store told me that everything in this town is only open for 10 days in August. The chip makes 25 million in 10 days! All these huge bars that are closed? Only one place open and they said it is because they are locally owned...the rest of the businesses are out of state owned and only open during the rally.
Went to the "Devils Tower." I swear I could hear "Bee Boo Baa Boo Bee". I have another movie to re-watch when I get home. Indian legend has it that these little girls were playing when a bear got after them...They ran up to the hills and prayed to be saved. At that moment, Mother Earth shot this rock they were standing on to the sky. The bear clawed and clawed at the sides of the mountain trying to get them, but they were saved. It should be called "Bear Tower."
The roads around the Black Hills are incredible. If you are a motorcyclist, this is a must ride.
Found a place to stay in the National Forest right outside Sturgis. Great camp spot. In the morning, this guy was digging and panning for gold just feet from where I was set up. He said that there was a gold claim on this creek and that you had to be a member of this gold club to dig here. He said he finds lots of gold.
Pushed off with Crazy Horse as my next destination.
This place was so "Top Notch"...my only regret was not going to Mt. Rush first. After leaving this place, I did not feel very patriotic at all. The Indians sure got the short end of the stick. They had a quote that said, "The white man made lots of promises and pledges and only kept one..to take our land!"
Indian Cultural Center for all Indians in North America. I spent hours here.
Now I would fight and die for my U.S. I love my country! However, the history of how we got this place is messed up. Just saying...
The place had lots of info on the sculpture as well ...lots of his art. Very cool.
Hey I have been on the road a while.
