She often lets me know when something of interest (a bike) is for sale, but it is usually when I am broke...

Oh and I forgot the other option I have with the TC, find a 09 or later WR or CR 125 frame, use my CR engine and the rest of the TC to build a 09 CR125, which is the bike I really wanted anyway...

New project just entered the shed.

A work mate mentioned there was a WR450f in his mother's shed. Apparently it was stolen from her husband, he died, then it was involved in a police chase and impounded two years later, returned to her and it sat in the shed for another year. I said I might be interested but I'm pretty broke.

He said it was a steel frame, but he hadn't looked closely at it, I got approval from the lovely wife to spend $500 to get it. Checked it out after work and was pretty surprised to see it was an 08.

I already felt a bit cheeky offering $500 for a steel frame so I started to apologise for wasting his time by saying "All I can offer is $500" and before I can finish he says "She'll take $500 for it."

So I loaded it up and buggered off.

Needs a very deep clean but it looks a lot better in person. Missing one side cover and the radiator louvers. Has heaps of compression but I haven't tried starting it until I give it a clean and service.

Chainged the oil, filter and spark plug (spark plug was only finger tight) put fresh fuel and it fired up with no strange noises and no smoke.

Been giving it a clean, came up pretty good.

Been slow lately, trying to pay off the bike before I spend money on it by selling crap in the shed.

Went to adjust the stupidly tight chain tension and found the rear wheel was not for the bike and had 25mm bearings but it has a 22mm axle, so they got around that problem by tightening the axle up stupid tight.

Bought a complete YZ wheel for $50, sold the old one for $80 (could have asked a lot more).

As soon as I can afford it I'll be getting new plastics and 18 inch rear wheel, and hopefully I'll have somewhere to ride by then...

All my bikes (except the TE) are in scrapper price range. :lol3

It was definitely on my mind, but most of the fun with the scrapper rides is building a bitza out of things you have laying around or pick up cheap, so I'll still be keeping an eye out for a candidate as soon as I finish the WR.

Picked up some black plastics last Sunday, they didn't have the side covers but I had my eye on a set on eBay for $25 each. Got home from picking the plastics up and went to order the ebay set but they sold an hour before I went to buy them, so i ordered a new set, clutch and brake lever.

Fitted it all up today and the bike is looking pretty good. I would have preferred the original colours but black was cheaper and I got a headlight shroud doing it this way.

Judging by the footpegs, brake and gear lever this bike hasn't done to much work.

Fairly average from most accounts. The WR didn't get the YZs SSS forks until 2012 unfortunately.

Yeah I was a bit disappointed to see they weren't SSS forks. And from what I have read the forks I put on the CR aren't SSS either, but I'm not 100% on that (they are KYB dual chambers though).

Well everything comes to an end...

Decided to sell everything and get one decent bike, just found a buyer for the WR.

I was really happy with the TE250 for the riding I have been doing, I took the WR for a lap around the block and would be happy with the power on dirt roads I think it would be a handful in the tighter tracks I do. So I'm looking at something smaller than a 400.

Would like to get a 13 or newer KTM 350 EXC in any colour, but also considering a Sherco 300 4t, or 250 4t in any flavor.
