David is actually my father in law. He loved this bike so very much but your story was too much for him to pass up. We had some good rides together with that bike and I hope he has the right of first refusal.

Geez, maybe I need to zoom in but it doesn't look "rough" at all. Nice bike from what I see.

Sorry to hijack, South Africa didn't get the final edition, but the love of the 1150 exists, in 2014 a Sunday Breakfast North of Pretoria assembled 63 well loved R1150GS's with a cumulative mileage of over 6 million km's :photog

I would agree that bike is sweet but the ad sucks. Looks like he used photos from his photography class instead of shots that might actually help sell the bike. Seriously, what "buy my bike" value is there in a shot of peering at it through the wreckage of a burned building or, for that matter, from the loft of his shadowy apartment. There are literally 2 photos that aren't in low light --one in front of his F150 (nice truck) and the other in parking lot. The ad itself looks like he copied the format from an online form.

Based on the ad, I would suspect scam with pics stolen from Pinterest...

    LOL. I totally missed that.

Another marketing issue: the turtle is gaining on the GS...

With an hour and 1/2 to ride this morning, my plan was to put on 60 miles and hit 70,000. Ran into a tag sale though and needed some old rusty oil cans, a milk crate to hold them, towels to keep it from scratching the whale and a handfull of bungys to hold it down. All for $5. Just replaced the blown rear shock with a very low mileage used one and she goes down the road like new.
