    Hey guys,

This May a few buddies and I will be making our way from Eastern Iowa to Moab.

We are planning to leave late afternoon on a Friday and hope to get about 4 hours under our belts that evening. This puts us somewhere near Omaha. We will be traveling on HWY 34 or thereabout.

Can someone recommend a nice campground in this area. We will be getting in around sunset so views are less important that a nice quiet spot. There will be three of us, each with our own tent.

    Thanks,

My advice is stay north through Nebraska with a night at the Niobrara State Park. Use a combo of NE 12 and 20 to get across then drop south on the west side of NE. This is assuming your ride is about the ride and not making a destination at a specific time. If you're looking to burn through and get to Moab fast disregard.

    Have a fun trip!

We love to ride but unfortunately this portion of our trip is about making time. We do need to be in Boulder the following afternoon to meet the rest of our group. Maybe on another trip later in the summer this destination would be great. Could loop in the black hills and the badlands too. Thanks for the thought.

The geese at the park/campground in Glenwood are assholes. I'd recommend Pony Creek if you make it that far. Viking Lake State Park between Villisca and Red Oak is nice, quite and they have new bathhouses only a couple years old. It's a short ride into Red Oak for breakfast in the morning if the lake cafe isn't open.
