1. Hey everyone, We’re going to start a weekly email to surface interesting threads in the forums. No worries, you can easily unsubscribe if you don’t find it interesting. If you’re like me, it’s nice to have someone willing to poke around a big community like ours and find the most interesting stuff. Saves time and I hate missing something great. It worked really well when we had someone discovering the best photos for the home page rotation back in the day. And if you have something fascinating to post, maybe this email does everyone some good by getting it noticed. Let us know what you think when you get it. Your feedback will make it better as we go (thread). Thanks! Baldy & rudy1220

I will be going to Taiwan in June. I will start in Taipei and I am planning on going to the South of the island. Any recommendations? Any place where I can rent a scooter for a day or 2?

if you're renting in taipei, lots of options, but check out bikefarm.net english(?) guy operated - i.e. good english, make your life easy. :D

outside taipei, i have no experience, but understand that there are often rental outfits right near the train stations.

Rented a scooter here near Hualien

No. 87, Xinxing 1st Road, Xincheng Township, Hualien County, Taiwan 971

I think it was about US$20 for 24 hours. Only 100cc Honda. Which was fine to go up to the national park on and down the coast. Be sensible.

They kind of spoke English. Although my friend was listening in and was laughing at us because apparently we were having two conversations.

I would use them again. You should know a little mandarin before going to Taiwan anyway

I didn't try to get one in Taipei. I loved seeing all the scooters it was awesome when there is like 20-50 at each corner.

Be aware it rains a lot in Taiwan.
