Hi, I'm glad to see your bike at 100,000 miles , that's my goal (I'm at 42K ,I owned a connie till 110 K sold in great shape).. What about fuel filters, ever change one???
I have 42K miles and my filter is at it's limit @ 600ml per 30 seconds, right at the limit that the manual says to change if it goes below that figure.
I do check it every 10K and it has been as good as 1000ml in 30 seconds, so it is going in that direction. I have a new one BUT at $170 I'm waiting as long as I can to put it in . My last trip to Guatemala I took it along.

    Hello all,
I have 2003 as well, the mileage is nowhere near to 100K miles...

But let me ask you did you ever change your battery?
I ride it all year around and still I am using the orginal battery.

I am curious to know how long the battery will last.

    When it comes to tires,
    Original Bridgestone lasted for 25.000kms
Second set was Tourance lasted 22.000kms I have changed them since they were 3 years old and getting hard on the surface.
Now I am on a set of Anakee. First impressions are positive.

    Regards

I've got a 2003 with the original battery. I ride it regularly and have lots of accessories (heated grips, PIAA 510's, run a vest, etc.). I'm keeping an eye on it though.....

    36K + miles.

No, we're not talking about Jean-Luc. Jean-Luc had a Vstrom years ago, like in '02 or '03?? He went to KTM years ago. I did a Vstrom group ride out to Nevada with Jean-Luc and half dozen other Vstrom riders, this in '03 I believe?

Jean-Luc's ride report, "Chasing Summer" is one of the best on ADV, IMO. He has a new one up on a Death Valley ride. Great pics as usual. All KTM guys of course, Jean-Luc lost his 950 Adventure in Argentina but has another .... Super Enduro I believe?

No, the high mileage Vstrom is (was?) owned by a French Canadian
named Louis, IIRC. He posted a few times on the old Yahoo Vstrom list. A fellow French Canadian Vstrom rider stayed at my house about five years ago, he knew Louis and had seen the bike ect ect, so it's here I got the info. Louis took the pic and posted it somewhere.

Haven't heard anything about any of this in years. Really nice to see guys getting their money's worth on their Vstrom's.
The Vstrom is easily a 100,000 mile bike and much further if one takes reasonable care. :deal

IMO, the Vstrom is the best, longest lasting, least expensive, best performing (Adventure Touring) long term bike today. Has far eclipsed BMW in this area, and many former BMW guys will back this up! (including me ... former BMW owner and forty other bikes)

Just had my 15k service done. Valves where a little tight, throttle bodies where way out, and tps was off. Also dealer found that the counter shaft seal had failed (I always thought the oil mess was chain lube). Of course the seal is under warranty and took all of 10min to install dealer also told Kawi the chain was at fault and gave me a free chain as well. All thing considered and how I treat the bike (RIDE RIDE RIDE) I am very happy. :clap

I'm interested in what you are using for this cheapo throttle lock.
    Thanks!

I used to use the NEP's, but I like the more solid feel of the Vista Cruise and they are much easier to put on. Usually the NEP's required some dremeling to fit and coming up with your own attachment point. The Vista has everything you need in the packing and usually only moving stuff around to get it to fit.
