You've been very inviting and helpful:jack

You're not riding trials unless it's in competition? Seriously?

This is a bike I actually competed in a trials with...ok I did take the luggage off, lower the gearing, put a trials tire on the back and rotated the bars forward. I did not finish last in the Intermediate class. Steering lock kind of sucked, but the electric start sure came in handy a couple of times.:1drink

After a 10 year hiatus from Trials, I went to a local event in SoCal in 1990 and won the Beginner class on the only bike I had at the time. Honda XL 250R 85.jpg

The first offense was the nazi reference.
'Purists' would have been a more accurate and less demeaning description.

    Not my post(s).

Elitist is what I said earlier in the thread. It's pretty apparent the established "trials folks" posting in this thread want there little fiefdom!

I'm just having fun on my semi-trials bike:drums

Anyone with half a brain knows that in the context of my post nazi means someone who is uptight and controlling. If you want to take offense about that be my guest, but let's be real (although that seems to be a stretch among you "purists").

    Just remember the post title....
    "$1000 brand new semi-trials bike?"
That ? at the end, makes it a question, not a statement. People definitely have a difference of opinion on what that answer is.

Awesome pic, thanks for sharing. :thumb

Mind if I share a pic of my $1000 Trials bikes?

Not $1000 per, $1000 bucks for the whole shebang! All run, all have competed in Trials, a couple if them even have regional class championships to their credit. While not "new", they are not "semi" Trials bikes either. Real Trials bikes. 4 of 'em, for a grand, total. :D

Norman, here's the thing about opinion: it can be based on conjecture or it can be based upon evidence. You can cook up a pot of conjecture in less time than it takes for the pot to boil, but evidence usually has to simmer for a while to come to full flavor.

Yes, the title of this thread is stated as a question, and some of the folks here are waiting for the evidence to develop before they make their conclusion one way or the other. What I don't get is why this bike is so offensive to those who want to pitch the thread into the outer darkness? If the bike won't cut it as a trials trainer for someone on a budget, it would be nice to have the time for the evidence to accumulate.

It's great that Brewtus was able to find four nice trials bikes for less than a grand, but how many of us are connected enough or lucky enough to fall into such a bonanza of mechanical pulchritude?

In the '60s I had to build my first trials bike out of a pile of unlikely junk because I couldn't afford a Greeves which was the only trials bike available in my neck of the woods. I'll likely have to build my last trials bike too, because, again, I can't afford a "purist" approved trials bike. I just wish that the "purists" would have the courtesy to let the answer to the OPs original question unfold until the evidence is in, instead of rushing to judgment and heaping condemnation and insult all over the thread.

I’m still patiently waiting to see someone ride some trials on it.
