    CAMPGROUND INFO

Again, this year we will be using The Browns Owens River Campground.

    http://www.brownscampgrounds.com/owens.html
It is located on the Benton Crossing Rd ( also known as the Green Church Rd ) 6 miles east of US 395. Turn East at the Green Church just north of Crowley Lake and just south of the Mammoth Airport. The campground has showers available from 8 am until 4pm, very clean restrooms, and a small store with Beer and Ice. They also have a grill for Breakfast and Lunch.

Also the Camp Ground is located at 7,000 ft. The nights can be cool, sometimes even down to freezing, but other times the nights dip into the upper 40's and daytime temps can be in the 70's, 80's and even 90's.
Also there are COWS on the road, that's why they call it "Open Range". please be alert when riding back to camp. especially at night. someone hit a cow a few years back and it wasn't pretty for the rider and the cow.:muutt :dhorse

Showers are available 8AM-9PM for $2 a token. 1 shower is available 24/7 locked from the inside. buy extra tokens just in case. showers are on a timer and you may need 2 tokens for one shower. they will buy them back when you are leaving.

    Store is open 8AM-5PM

Check Out is at Noon. THIS MEANS ON SUNDAY WHEN YOU PLAN ON RIDING UP TO WHITE MOUNTAIN RESEARCH CENTER AT BARCROFT, YOU WILL NEED TO PACK UP AND LEAVE OR PAY FOR ANOTHER NIGHT.
THERE IS PARKING AT THE BOTTOM OF SILVER CANYON NEAR LAWS TRAIN MUSEUM B
UT YOU CANNOT PARK AT LAWS ANYMORE. PARKING IS ½ mile TOWARDS THE MOUNTAIN CHURCHILL MINE ROAD AND SILVER CANYON ROAD. THERE IS A TREE AND A TRANSFORMER THERE WITH A GRAVEL LOT.
    GPS COORDINATES : 37.401654, -118.338696

Quiet Hours (generators off hours) is 10PM-8AM

Pay at the store when you arrive. This campground can handle RV's of any size. If you like to fish, bring your gear. The Fly fishing is fantastic here. FYI this campground Does Not Take Credit Cards. CASH ONLY!!! ( no land line, but cell phones work great ).

post if your IN and I'll put you on the list :deal

keep in mind this is an unRally.
come out and ride with friends new and old.
the ride up to the top of WMRC on Sunday is not an organized ride. but you will easily find other riders to cruise with.

IT WILL BE COLD AT NIGHT! sometimes dipping below freezing.

AND YES, THERE ARE STILL COWS ON THE ROAD

Twice a year the White Mountain Research Center opens their gate. they used to only have the gates open one day a year. Located in the Bristle cone Pine Forest, this is the only time of the year that you can ride all the way up to the station and check it out ( 13K ft ).
It used to be the first Sunday in August, but now it's July 30 this year. as well as Labor Day Weekend. July is a better date for everybody over Labor Day and it's closer to the traditional date so we're sticking to the July date.
ride dates are 07/27/17-07/30/17, with the open gate on Sunday 07/30/17.
sorry, no cookies and milk up top or the open house this year.
ride up to the White Mountain on Sunday to see the amazing views.
    .
The area is loaded with great dual sport riding and camping. This a great weekend of riding the high country , with much cooler temps. I will be making the trip, hope you can join me. The pic reports below say it all.

Info On White Mountain Research Center:

White Mountain Research Center, with its principal office located in the Owens Valley near Bishop, was established in 1950 to provide laboratory facilities for any qualified research investigator wishing to utilize the high-mountain environment for his or her work, and to serve as teaching facilities for field courses conducted in the region. There are four separate laboratory sites: one in the Owens Valley; a second at Crooked Creek, at an elevation of approximately 10,000 ft (2,090 m); a third at the base of Mt. Barcroft, at an approximate elevation of 12,500 ft (3,801 m), making it the 11th highest high-altitude station in the world and the fourth highest in North America; and a fourth, the Summit Laboratory, atop White Mountain Peak, at an elevation of 14,246 ft (4,340 m). The Summit Laboratory is the fourth highest high-altitude research facility in the world and the highest in North America.

Serious lurk. Haven't been there since '13 (Goldpoint Rally) going up through the Bristlecone Pine forest was a blast in early fall with all the snowmelt running down the service road. (Avatar pic). Hope to make this happen.

I'm gonna tentatively put myself down for this, plus the lady, and possibly another friend or two. The wife and I hiked to the top of White Mountain a couple years ago and I noticed alot of good riding to be had in the area. I really hope I can make it!

I may be IN, but I ain't riding with that fuckin RAZR. The last time I rode with his young punk ass, I didn't go to work the whole next week. Yes, I was injured. Shoulder, knees, you fuckin name it, I was hurtin. No matter how many 800's I took, I was whining like a little bitch. Yes, his bitch ass worked the shit outta me. I taught this asshole how to ride and this is how he repays me. Fuck You Charles! :flip But I'm game for some VERY easy riding for 4 days. Hell, I may even be retired by then? Fuckin a-hole even made me change my screen name. :gun1 Dick. See you in July :dizave

Last time I did this ride was in 2010 on the mighty DRZ. The bike went into storage right after this run.
I finally got it out of storage and running in time for Warped this year but I got a rear flat about 30 miles into the ride and missed making it out to Kernville.

The DRZ is getting all new rubber on both ends this week, so it should be good to go for this ride.

    Im IN.
