Seriously, this is my new favorite thing to think about at work.

It would be great if the GPS tracks were a little more detailed... The ones on Xchange are pretty, lets say, chunky in their detail.

Anyone know what software is used here. It has a TON of fire road detail.

    Good stuff.

A member just PM'ed me today about doing the ride, so I thought I would ping the thread.

Sorry about the "chunky" tracks. The reason is that when I did the ride I only had 15x1000 point tracks to work with on my 276c. One for each day, no computer to off load them, so we made do. When actually following the routes, you will find that it doesn't much matter. Having bread crumbs spaced however far apart with a decent map under them makes the rout simple to follow. Not a problem.

The maps in the thread were made with MS Steets and Trips on drugs. They look cool, but are grossly unreliable.:(:

    cheers,

    YUP!

i will do a similar ride this fall or next spring.
got family in Seattle so it would be a great way to take a trip north to see them.
BTW R-dubb, how did you get the bikes back, truck it back or slab it all the way down???

No reason to "man up" it's just that we had not thought of a smarter plan . BTW, I had a KTM950Adv at the time...

Glad to see this thread still has some life. I did this ride about 1 year ago and had a great time, I highly recommend it. The GPS tracks worked great. Thanks for sharing with the rest of us.

If anyone plans on doing this ride, I live about 2 miles from the central California portion of the route and would be glad to offer tent space or anything else.

    hahaha

i gotta save some dough and get ready to take a chunk of time off of work(what i do, when i'm not there, i don't get paid, no vacation pay).

i wanna make sure i do border to border.

i have some GPS tracks and want to do more homework on other tracks and piece it all together.

to answer your question....... probably next spring/summer.

OR and WA need to thaw.:D
