Just found this via Miriam's RR. A great tripreport - thanks to all contributors. Pity about the 640 and truck.

Just a quick word of thanks to R-dubb and the original crew for a great RR. Last week I rode their route from Chester, CA to Easton, WA.
R-dubb and the gang not only invested a LOT of time and effort in researching a legal parallel to the PCT but posted their GPS for others, like myself, to follow.

Thanks guys, I had a great time.

    I came across this....at - N44 23.798 W121 55.392

The signs look pretty new. It was easy to zoom out on the GPS to see where the route was supposed to go and then follow an alternative through the woods and drop out on the road close to where the original went.

I rode a small section from south of the 410 to Bend oregon this year.

Only problem I had was a single closed bridge[IMG]

    I'm sorry but I don't know the co-ords of the bridge:baldy

It was a pretty easy go round though.

I just read through the SoCal - NorCal RR section and it sounds amazing. Seriously thinking about LA-Reno-LA(maybe via Eastern Sierra route which needs to get laid out) from July 7-20. May be hot but it's the time slot that I have to do this. Anyone game?

Will do. Pretty sure I'll be doing this route as I've always wanted to explore the sierras on dirt and it's probably the only dirt mroute out of LA that wont cook us alive. :rofl

Time to give this thread a little bump...

Can you believe that next year will mark the 10 year anniversary of the PCQ??

BigWan and I rode Day 5 last saturday - it was a great ride!
A little warm (around 100°), but still a lot of fun.
Our stupid gps recalculated at one point and we missed a small portion of R-dubb's tracks, but for the most part the tracks worked great.

    A couple photo updates:

Just in case anyone is curious, we also did Days 6, 7 and 8 in 2010 (scroll down)
I made a couple notes about some closed sections.

Day 7 is really good. We did it again last year - Gold Lake here (with some video) and Butcher Ranch/Sierra Buttes here.

It would be great if all the sections were updated in time to do an anniversary ride next year!
Our tracks for 5, 6, 7 and 8 are almost good enough to share. They need a little more cleaning up.

I'll try and post back when they're ready.

Hope others will do the same for the remaining sections.

Thanks again, R-dubb and company - the PCQ was quite the undertaking and we appreciate all your hard work!

    :clap

Looking to do the WABDR and take the PCQ back north from the Oregon/Washington border. Anyone do this recently? Any suggestions?

I can't imagine the incredible amount of work that went into this, thank you R-Dubb and crew.

I found a link to the beginning of this thread on my computer, moving things around. I'm still hoping to do it sometime (probably in reverse). As this is prime dreaming and planning season, maybe this reply will show it to someone who can do it in 2014. 10th anniversary thanks for the thread.

Aewsome RR dudes. :clap Man you guys got lucky with the Forest Circus Clowns on the closed road at Harts Pass, usually they are not much into being nice to off road types.
