180mm clutch disk BMW vs VW

    there is a spring in the input shaft already internal to the transmission, I think the consensus was that the external was not needed.

    but if so, yeah, 40 seconds with a grinder would reduce the hub OAL enough to use a stock VW disc, IF you can source the longer bolts needed ( the friction material is too thick as delivered)

    Thread dredge and direction change.

    If there's so much similar between the R1100 clutch setup and the VW, does this mean it would be fairly easy to mate a R1100 engine and a VW Beetle/Bug gearbox and run a Beetle off teh R1100 powerplant?

    I am in process of doing vw 180 mm solid plate ,will report as soon as finished.

    Assembling for 5th time :baldy got shimming up to 1.5 mm now it does not bind:-)Now for re assembly of rest of bike tomorrow. The next step will be to see if it performs as planned with fully loaded /pillion and luggage to ascertain if it will slip , smoke or just fail.
