there is a spring in the input shaft already internal to the transmission, I think the consensus was that the external was not needed.
but if so, yeah, 40 seconds with a grinder would reduce the hub OAL enough to use a stock VW disc, IF you can source the longer bolts needed ( the friction material is too thick as delivered)

If there's so much similar between the R1100 clutch setup and the VW, does this mean it would be fairly easy to mate a R1100 engine and a VW Beetle/Bug gearbox and run a Beetle off teh R1100 powerplant?
