I really need to step away from Craigslist. What can you guys tell me about this bike? I've done a few internet searches and can't seem to find sheep dip on this particular year. As is usual per my questioning regarding moto-x bikes, could this one do duty as a woods bike? Thanks again, gents.
Craigslist cheap bike addiction is real, 92s are decent enough bikes...they don't have much resale though so you gotta get it good and cheap
Yeah, it's cheap. That's probably the biggest reason I'm eyeballing it. But I think I still need to scratch that two-stroke-as-a-woods-bike itch. Still waiting on parts for the CR500.
What you need is a cheap husky for woods duty. It's hard to beat a factory 100w lighting coil, 6 speed, 18/21 excels, kickstand, brembos, etc. Parts quality vastly exceeds Japanese MX bikes
I have a 1992 KX250 in the garage, I've owned it since 1993. Any two stroke makes a good woods bike once you add a heavy flywheel and plush suspension. I race MX and hare scrambles on mine. I didn't change anything from the MX set-up when racing hare scrambles, just ran it as-is.
How about a '96 that needs a kickstart shaft and some TLC? I just called on this one. It needs other things as well such as wheel bearings, seat cover, pipe's dented pretty good but evidently it runs well and has great compression. $700.00
