If you still have it when you pass through Wichita Kansas Kmack1956 lives near there. May be able to do a handoff to him. He was the one who snapped the pic of me handing it off to you when you picked it up in Provo. Just a thought. Good luck on your SS1000.......ride safe.

If you are Still in NoCal I could meet for a hand off. I am in the east bay and am between bikes but have a 500exc I could use. Will have a proper road bike on Tuesday.

It's pretty awesome to look at the SPOT map. We officially have too many data points to see the whole map at once. (only allowed to display 500 points at a time). It's pretty awesome that this thing is out there still roaming.

Dang, that would have been cool to hand it off to someone new. By that time yesterday I was just East of Reno. The baton will be headed further East toward Oklahoma on Wednesday, unless someone wants to meet me another time/place.

Here are the baton's adventures over the last two days:

After the Tree of Utah a couple posts up, we stopped in Elko to hit up Ace Hardware. I lost the bolt on the end of my hand guard, and Ace almost always has a bolt that fits. We found a couple of these painted boots around town:

When getting gas in Winnemucca, we were next to this sweet Lamborghini Jarama:

I stopped for some lunch in Fernley. The carne asada was pretty good.

We made a brief stop in Reno to see the arch:

We made it to Chico safely at around 7pm and 780 miles. The next morning, we were on the road before sunrise. I stopped to capture the rising sun through the smoke. The smoke wasn't as bad as it was before.

We stopped in Sebastapol to get this tag for the Mileage Mania ride, and the baton helped hold my flag:

I was hoping to get another tag in Freedom, CA. This is the second time I've been skunked by a town named freedom. There was no sign for the tow. All I needed was a little green sign saying "Freedom," but no...:becca
There is a Freedom, OK, so I'll try again while I'm out there.

And here we are back at home after 1138 miles (1164 according to the bike's odo) in under 24 hours:

It may be too late, but I think you can get around that limit using spotwalla…

Well, I swear I turned the Spot on this morning, but it looks like it was off all day :doh
    I'm in Edmond, OK now.

My dumb ass forgot to put the baton back in the tank bag, so it took a little tumble as I was getting on the highway :muutt
I recovered it, and it is in good shape, just some extra dings.

Good question! I wasn't able to hand the baton to anyone on my trip last week. For now, I will hold on to it until someone wants to meet up. I don't have any long trips planned for the rest of the year.

Because of the BS virus crap it ended up spending several weeks on the shelf in my laundry room. Hopefully someone soon will come along and grab it to continue it’s forward motion.

Well, It's getting to be the end of the year. Do we want to wrap up the event within the next couple weeks and send the baton back east? I don't mind hanging on to it through the winter, and then starting it up again next spring using some of the lessons that we learned and making changes. I'd also like the opportunity to compile all the info and pictures from the USB drive and do a write up for all of you guys/gals who participated as a tribute to the baton's journey this year as well as your efforts.

Let me know what you all think!

I think thats a great idea thank you for taking that on. Maybe an option for this winter is keeping it in the southern regions. I know some of those folks ride year round and there’s a possibility it could keep moving. Pop a $20 bill in the thing and go hide it. Give out clues like a tag game or geo-cache. That’ll get people looking for it.
The more I think about that the better I like it. Finder takes the prize and leaves something new when they hide it. Post up here the clue for where it’s at. That way youre not left holding on to it. The Spot...? Meh.
