That's an Indian license built copy of a Yamaha RD made by Rajdoot, possibly not a good choice for the locals considering road conditions over there...

Having said that it could be a good source of air-cooled Yamaha twin bikes and parts.

Last night, I accepted a deposit on the sale of my RD350 powered DS7 that I've owned since '74. I decided to sell it to finance the resurrection of my GT750, in the foreground, that I've owned since '79. Don't mind admitting that there were some pretty sad thoughts going through my mind last night as I sat staring at the cafe sipping on a stiff drink. A LOT of great memories from long ago. :(

Kawasaki once built a roadracer powered by the 350cc Bighorn enduro's engine that was legal for the AMA 250 class. IIRC Duhamel rode it a few times, though certainly not with that air filter. The lowboy frame, skinny wheels and tires, and gas tank make me think this is one of them. Nobody else would go to that much trouble to make a repro. Either way I bet it vibrates hard enough to loosen the teeth of people sitting in the stands.

They had very poor reliability, so I'm guessing the motor was stripped at one point to fix it, then stayed that way when they couldn't get parts for it.

I was very close to buying an engine from one a few months ago, it wasn't running and missing heaps of parts for it are impossible to get, but it was $100 and I wanted it to hang on the wall because they are an interesting looking motor...

I wonder if there is any point you can just whack the throttle open and hold on, without worry of hitting the back of your head on the street?
