Hey they fellas! I have a 2007 ADV that has right around 40k miles. The water pump has been done, it has samco hoses on it. But I am getting a coolant smell and I cant find where it's coming from. I found last year that the bottom radiator hose had a loose clamp but I tightened that last year. Any ideas are appreciated! 20180928_183052.jpeg

could just be time to replace rad cap? they weep pressure (and smell) but not always enough liquid to notice wetness. see if the blow hose has any signs next ride.

"O" ring on the pipe fitted into the water pump housing was a problem area for me.
Small, occasional drip onto the exhaust header.
It took several tries to get the problem stopped.

I'll try a cap, and if that doesn't fix it I'll try the oring.

Had that issue on my dad's bike, ended up with 3 o-rings on there to get it to seal.

Had the radiator spring a leak on my bike, the plastic around the fan had eaten a hole in it but that had my left leg soaked in coolant so doubt that is the case here.

Had a cracked reservoir also so that might be worth looking closely as also.

Hm, hope you track it down.
Im having a bit of coolant smell right on startup, smells more like it's coming from the engine area and not out the exhaust. Also losing maybe 1mm of coolant from the reservoir per week with no obvious sign of it. With that small amount Im losing it's tricky to find since Im sure it's just evaporating immediately. 99% sure it's not WP as that's been replaced within the last year.

More annoying than anything, and I'm sure i look like im crazy every time i start the bike and start sniffing around everything :p
    Thanks for the ideas DirtyADV.

I had this in the first year of my 990, KTM found that in one cylinder, there was a hole through to the water chamber. Had to replace the barrel....

Did you find any solution??? I've been noticing the same some time ago, coming from the bottom hose on the ride side of the radiator, this clamp sometimes come lose, but the system is still loosing some coolant somewhere, and not from the water pump, it's just anoying!

Not yet. Still must be dribbling a tiny amount somewhere. Just did an oil change an the fins were not wavy at all so i don't think it's WP for me either. Nothing visible on any hoses that I can see. I'll be able to have a closer look when I do the valves in 6k km or so with the airbox off. I was thinking of trying that dye and UV light to pinpoint it.

Ya, it's just annoying at this point.

Probably a clamp that reseals as it warms up.
