I forgot my camera, so I got no pics.
BUTT I HAD A GREAT TIME. The top hyway is more fun wet then DRY.
Here's some of my pucs from D2D...
About to get wet.
Best picture of English...
AKDuc gettin' lucky!!
Stop 2 on the poker run.
So F'ing cold at the border stop.
Cold and wet...and look how far down the snow is coming on the mountains, boo!
Weather and roads got nice back in Glennallen...no traffic was a plus too.
Hey hey! that's me...I almost won the balloon toss, no prizes for 2nd place...boo.
Is that the closest we are gonna get to my and Sander's famous "Girls of Dawson"???
I wanted to say THANKS to the folks who planned D2D. I was a first-timer and sure enjoyed the experience, sharing laughter with lots of interesting folks and hearing about their adventures. I'm a fairly new rider and riding home through the rain, dense fog and slippery mud conditions on the Top of the World highway was pretty scary in places. But riding through tricky road conditions like that helps improve my skills. I was sure glad to finally pull into Chicken and let my adrenaline rush calm down a little! Dawson is a fun place to visit and there are awesome hiking and backpacking opportunities nearby, so hopefully next time I can combine a backpack trip with the D2D "non-rally." And maybe next year I'll do better in the Bite the Hotdog contest.
I'm sure there are ways to practice for it...lol.
Everything was going according to plan but then at the very last second all hell broke loose and everything that could go wrong, did.
That's a bummer, we were wondering. Hope you get those hells stuff back in the bucket where they belong.....
Apparently, in my final.
Other folks-if someone managed to get pictures of me losing at the biker games, can you post them or e-mail them?My narcissism knows no bounds.
I dunnno, looked like all you guys in the 2-up games were "winners," pretty pillions and all.
Good times. Mark H.
You know it, Baby... to bad I could not see the show that my Pillion put on... but hey, we won!
Next time, I'll practice all the other stuff... or maybe I'll just leave last and then try to be first in the poker run?
I mean, being that it was a race and all...
You guys are a hoot and it was worth 5500 miles...
Lol your pax looked like she had done some work with swinging hotdogs before!!!
You are still my hero, Ben!
You're right; I suppose I'll have to practice over the winter when I'm not out backcountry skiing. Are you the one I loaned my book about the Tombstones to?
My feelings are hurt. You said the guys are a hoot and worth the ride, but what about us gals that were at D2D? Thanks for being such a charming, well-dressed escort to the banquet! That's the first time I wore a skirt while tent camping. Be sure to call when you get to Anchorage. After we go to dinner I'll take you hiking so you can admire some local scenery; but don't worry, I promise to be gentle with you! Have safe travels through our great state.
Miss Murphy! I deeply apologize... I was using the term "guys" in a very liberal way (which - I know - you Alaskans don't really care for) and meant to include both genders and anything in between!
I'll certainly holler at you when in Los Anchorage... I am going to be there around the 11th - 13th, I think... maybe for a day or so before that. We shall see. I have to pick up a friend at the Airport on the 4th but then pretty much immediately leave for the Kenai...
I only have your work number... so I'll try during working hours... whatever those will be!
It was my utmost pleasure to escort you to the Banquet... maybe next year you and I can team up for the 2-up contest?
You ride and I try to get the wiener
This is wrong...
Cool, I'm planning my first D2D for 2010.
