2009 F650GS Headlight Burns Out Immediately

    Testing complete and problem solved. One of the posters noted that the low beam headlight doesn't come on when the key is turned to on...only when then engine is started. I checked the voltage at the bulb receptacle and found that to be mostly true. When you turn on the key you get a brief voltage reading before it returns to zero. I installed a new bulb and checked it before returning it to the headlight cavity. When you turn on the key, the light comes on for just a fraction of a second. However, with the new bulb installed, it didn't burn out. Voltage was in the 13-14v range and it is now working fine. Thanks for all the help. I think we all learned something here....

    Yeah... A defective part can make you crazy thinking it is something else that is causing a problem. Happens more than you would think. It was real bad in the infancy of vehicle electronics. Cheap aftermarket parts were the worst.
