One of my riding buddies has an 09 F650GS twin with the cast tubeless wheels. Without knowing he ordered a rear shinko 705 140/70-17 that was tube type. I'm used to spoke wheels on my F800GS and KLR250 so tubes are nothing new to me. Would it be fine to put a tube in his rear tire and run the shinko 705? The only thing I'm not sure about is how to get the valve stem out of his rim without destroying it. I looked on the max bmw parts fiche and it looks like a standard auto type valve stem. Is it possible to remove the valve stem and be able to reuse it for the next tubeless tire? His bike does not have the tire pressure monitoring system so that's not a worry. Any info on this would be great thanks, Fred.

I have run tube type tires on tubeless rims in the past with no issues. Sometimes a small amount of air will be lost weekly as there is not quite as good a seal to the rim (not always though). I'd say spoon it on and see how bad it leaks.

It will be fine to run a tube with that wheel/tire. It's a cheap ass automotive stem! Just cut it off and buy another. Geeeeesss itÂ’s not a KLR.:rofl<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

I just finished a 4,000 mile trip to Colorado / Wyoming on that tire without a tube. No problems. I did use about half the tread, so I'm not expecting over 8,000 miles from it. I lost maybe 4 psi duing the two weeks.
