Still can't believe I won the raffle for the coat.

Gonna be nice this fall when it cools off. Thanks Big John and GO AZ Motorcycles for sponsoring the rally!

What a great time the rally was for me and my son. Can't wait till next year and hope my schedule makes it happen.

No need to wait for fall. I have that exact same coat and wear it quite comfortably without its liner in the summer. Hunt around and you'll keep finding ventilation openings you can unzip. So far I've found 5 :-)

Joe is doing good as of this morning. He is having a little trouble with the bed. His 6 5 length is to long for the bed. He seemed to be a little frustrated with his nurse. So he is still among us!!!:wings

Traci had surgery this morining. She opened her eyes and squeezed the nurses hand. Her surgery is suppose to be long and prayers were asked for.

Indeed that all sounds like good news!

As I said I would, I went and gave blood last Thursday morning. Again, I invite everyone to join in. Only 4% of Coloradoans give blood.

So here is the latest up date...........
He is still in a coma but the brain is aware that he is uncomfortable (sp) It is aware that the bed is to short, there is a tube in his thorat, and that he is in restraints, so he is thrashing about. The docs are going to lighten up the sedation on him. MRI reveled no damage to the ligitures in the neck so they have removed the c-collar. They have started to wean him off the respirator, it only kicks in when he has trouble breathing. Liz says that it is nice that things are starting to come off. There is still deep bruising of the brain and frontal lobe damage, but nothing new. He came through the surgery to place a "filter" to catch clots before they pass into the cardiovascular system and the pulmonary system which is a concern. His digestive track has started working and as such his bowels are full which is causing him to be uncomfortable. He is set for another surgery on Friday.

Traci did well with 6 hours of surgery to repair the fractures in her jaw. The docs say that the nerves are in good condition and hopefully there will be no paralisis of her tongue or face. They are saying that she might wake up enough today to allow her to eat on her own. Milk shakes for Traci!:wings
Next step for her is surgery to repair the broken pelvis.

Liz is staying down at Jaffie House, which is like a Ronald McDonald house. They are charging her 20 bucks a day to stay there, and they have given her a 6.50 voucher for food at the hospital. She is so strong to be going through this. She is thankful for all the support that she is getting from RMAR people. She says that Joe enjoys our letters and e-mails. So keep it coming.

Would someone in the area be able to set something up so we can send Liz some money to help with her lodging and meals while she is there?

I would like to send something to help out, but I have no idea how to get it to her.

    Thanks,
    Rick

Woody's Wheels yup that was me. What a great ride! I don't remember when I have had such a wonderful time. I will up date all of you when I come down this afternoon to drop off the wonder wheels!

Here is the latest on Joe.

Joe is breathing on his own again. If he would just give some kind of a response then they can pull the breathing tube. His eye is protruding which means that there is still pressure behind it so he is going to have an opthalmology appointment soon.
They have turned off the sedation hoping to bring him out of the coma.
They have shaved off all of his hair and have donated it to locks of love. Liz is going to have an appointment with a finical person today. She is beat.

Traci is comfortable, breathing on her own she just has not woken up yet.

Everyone out there Please pray for these two people. They are one of us. Motorcycle lovers!

I think it would be great if someone could maybe put together a fund somewhere where we all could donate a little something for the cause. Anyone out there got any ideas?????? How about a fall ride some where for Joe? Big John this would be something that is right up your alley.

    Hugs
    The Rocket.

    thanks for the updates SabaRocket.
I'm glad to hear the progress.

+1 on some way to donate funds. Doesn't have to be a ride, but anything that will help.

OK - I set up a pledgie campaign for Joe and Traci. Pledgie is a cool little tool for this kind of thing. The public page is supposed to show how much is collected as people donate. Functionally the way it works is you paypal donate and the money filters to me though paypal. You'll all be able to see how much gets pledged. On September 1, 2010 I will write a check and send it down to Lonesome Dove for the amount you inmates have donated.

Just noticed that the clever little badge thingy in my post above will show you right here how much we've raised - The first handful of donations have been extremely generous!
