Got a flat, repaired it, went flat again. Some guys with a toy hauler, Emerson and Smiley, picked me up and we are pulling into Motogp soon. Hope to find FFboy and a rear tube. Still trying to make it to your place

Well its been an odd weekend thus far, I don't have a good headcount for tonight so if you guys are online and planning on attending post up, I want to make sure we have enough food.

Well I had no luck finding you guys. I saw an R.V. right across from the track near the bridge at gate 6. It had a Rossi flag and several bikes in the lot in front of it and a KLR so I figured it had to be you guys. I asked a guy there and he said they weren't from ADV. Oh well maybe next year.

The racing was awsome and I'm glad I got the General Admission ticket. I watched from all over the place but found the Paddock seats to be the best. The only down fall is its loud and its hard to hear the announcing at times. The mounds are cool but they need a mega-tron out there so you can see whats going on on the rest of the track.
All and all it was a grand ol' time.

Here are a few pics from my GP weekend...

    Headed south from Chicago...

    <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/dougshipman/6103942892/" title="IMG00344-20110825-1544.jpg by explr77, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6062/6103942892_19ce068a67_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="IMG00344-20110825-1544.jpg"></a>

First of many flats. I did luck out with being in the shade, at a gas station with free air, and a bar next door with a bunch of red milk crates/bike stands laying around out back...

    <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/dougshipman/6103376051/" title="IMG00345-20110825-1850.jpg by explr77, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6085/6103376051_1f0210300d_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="IMG00345-20110825-1850.jpg"></a>

After getting another flat on I-74 somewhere in Indiana in the middle of the night, the two guys on the left picked me up. Smiley and Emerson let me throw my tent down at their site. GrayWolf is on the right. Do you see the ridiculously large folding chair on the left?

    <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/dougshipman/6103368559/" title="IMG00347-20110826-1126.jpg by explr77, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6062/6103368559_2af87374c8_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="IMG00347-20110826-1126.jpg"></a>

Here you see Smiley's toy hauler I put the bike in, his diesel beast of a truck on the left, GW's bike recovery truck on the right (Thanks again guys!)

    <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/dougshipman/6103920142/" title="IMG00346-20110826-1125.jpg by explr77, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6069/6103920142_cb26871529_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="IMG00346-20110826-1125.jpg"></a>

After getting all settled at GW's place and changing the rear tube three times I finally get to the track at about 6pm on Friday. I was trying to find bike parking, but accidentally get cued up to do a track lap. It's hard to see, but the line of bikes went all the way out the gate and on to the street. Luckily the ticket package I purchased included the track lap, I had no idea...

    <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/dougshipman/6103889344/" title="IMG00350-20110826-1816.jpg by explr77, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6086/6103889344_abaee9b9d7_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="IMG00350-20110826-1816.jpg"></a>

After the track lap, which was a great time, I was routed to the IMS After Dark concert. I didn't know there was a designated bike parking area. I just parked near the stage. Either the staff didn't care or they thought I was suppose to park by the stage...

    <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/dougshipman/6103884324/" title="IMG00351-20110826-1933.jpg by explr77, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6209/6103884324_1b1ccfce66_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="IMG00351-20110826-1933.jpg"></a>

The following are some terrible Meridian Square photos from my phone...

    <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/dougshipman/6103620892/" title="IMG00353-20110826-2223.jpg by explr77, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6209/6103620892_34aeed7e65_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="IMG00353-20110826-2223.jpg"></a>

    And the obligatory girl pic...

    <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/dougshipman/6103050209/" title="IMG00356-20110827-1207.jpg by explr77, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6085/6103050209_7a57ce6e71_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="IMG00356-20110827-1207.jpg"></a>

I didn't see any other DR's or KLR's the entire weekend, other than GW's in the front yard. I had a great time, learned a lot, met great people. I hope GW does it again next year.

    Thanks!
