For my Sertao & my daughter's g650gs, I replaced the heavy lead battery with this SkyRich lithium battery about 5 months ago. Fantastic weight reduction, & ease of mind in case there are longer periods between rides (job commitments away from home).
No trouble, great reviews from many forums ... just not compatible with normal lead battery chargers or trickle maintainers, but there's no need for those with lithium batteries. Good deals can be found all the time with local or eBay suppliers.
On another subject, I’ve had a search through the forum but didn’t find a working workshop manual link . . . Has anyone got a pointer about where to find one. Thanks
There has not been a pdf workshop manual since 2005, BMW moved to a windows only REPRom CD which you purchase from Dealers
Dealers - ‘scuse the noob question, but where dat?
BMW Dealers Part No 01 59 8 405 650, also beware the Haynes manual, it tries to cover too many year models in one manual so it is not good value
Has anyone got a photo of a “safety wired” split clip? I’d be interested to see.
Haha I’d just asked for a photo of a safety wired link and .. . . . . There you go, two posts down there is a photo.
Noooooob question, what is a pigtail when it is associated with a trickle charger dedicated to lithium batteries?
Another noooob question - how does one bookmark sensible advice on this forum?
On a phone it's hard. One a tablet or regular computer it is easy, the post # in the upper right corner is an actual link that you can bookmark.
Brilliant, how simple and who would have known? Evidently not me.
I take a screenshot with my phone and save it to my Sertao service album.
Yup, goodonya Mofrid, I’ve just initiated a Sertao folder.

When I bought my Sertao, I found that the mirrors limited the view because (for me) they were too far inside on the handlebar. Could have done with a better oem design which might have permitted some individual adjustment. 20 mm (3/4") extension was all I was after. Used the lathe to turn 16mm s/s round bar into those extensions, cut the mirror stems and epoxy'd them into their spots. Great result, much wider field of view of the road behind ...
Im having some electrical trouble and am looking for some help.. My instrument cluster, turn signals, ABS switch, and horn get no power with the key turned while the headlights work fine, and the engine still starts..
Id like to take her apart and fix her myself but need help with where to look and what to do.
First thing, check your fuses
