The camp spot may still be in the trees. I am waiting on Ponderosa to confirm the location. The open area with the fire pit has a few trees on the hillside behind it and a light breeze.
lol.....of course kauai was amazing....(but still, Not enoiugh KTM time lately...)...but with flying monkey/toroweep to finish trip, mammoth 2 weeks later, (some trip in september) and bar 10 october....plenty of epicness to look forward to....
LOOKING FOR: UP TO 3 MORE RIDERS interested in camping at toroweep Sunday July 21, after the rally. This is an amazing place to camp and explore.... Here's the details: shoot me a PM if interested, and I'll get in touch.....1st 3 are "IN"..(limit of vehicles at group site is the factor), 1. Plan to leave the ponderosa/rally early sunday, drive to hurricane and head to toroweep from there...arrive tuweep camp by early afternoon, explore the north rim, overlooks, do a little hiking, watch the most amazing sunset and sunrise on the north rim of the grand canyon.... 2. we have a support truck, which can carry some extra gas/water/food. 3. I've secured the group site at tuweep campground, and with our permit we can have the 1 truck and up to 6 bikes. (ok'd by ranger). we currently have the truck and 3 bikes set.... 4. only cost is your own gas/food....permit is free... 5. Most of us are heading back to hurricane on monday afternoon, and back to san diego tuesday... 6. Others joining us can leave directly from ponderosa, but Truck is heading back to hurricane from toroweep Monday and NOT back to ponderosa. cheers, dxfox.
OK, my back is healing up pretty well from surgery and I think I should be healthy enough to make this! I'm desperate for some fun miles, so this will do my soul good. It is too late to see about a T Shirt? Does the campground have a website or do I need to call and reserve? I'm going with my original plan and bring the pig as I just don't want to drive that far with the dirt bike in tow for only a couple days of riding, so I'm assuming I'd be OK in terms of big bike rides? I figure I'll ride there on street tires and then mount up a set of knobbies upon arrival. Hopefully in the next few weeks I'll get my fitness level up to where I can handle this and be ready to rock.
Great! Not too late for a shirt. What size? www.zionponderosa.com is the site for the camp spot. Tell them that you are with the Flying Monkeys. Thanks Jesse
Cool, thanks! I'm assuming I can just be a spoad and jump in on someone's ride to some nice places? Oh yeah, I'm a goon at XXL for a T shirt. I already did a route to get there and about as direct as I can get, it's at 700 miles each way, so I may get there a day early to rest up and mount tires.
LTS, It is big bike friendly, Jesse had his GS out there and there were several KLR's in the ride I went on last year. I don't think that anyone would mind if you tagged along See ya there
Im going to invite some friends. Hopefully they can also make it. XL shirt. My 690 enduro is gonna have a hoot. I will be roughing it in a tent. Sent from Paradise

T-Shirt Deadline is Sunday July 7 Hello Everyone, Please let me know by this Sunday if you want a T-Shirt and what size. Monday is my final day to place an order, in order to have them for the event. Please try to pay for them ASAP too. Thanks!! -Jesse
I met with the doctor earlier this week and told them about this ride. He wasn't nuts about it (for fear of having to pick up a 600 lb pig) and would prefer for me to wait another 6 weeks. I think if I stick to mainly easy fire roads, I'll be fine. I also got authorization to start exercising again, so on top of the daily stationary bike and stretches, I'm now doing some abs, pushups and pull ups, as well as some simple TRX work. I should be able to get a decent modicum of fitness just so the length of the ride won't bug me. And after last weekend where I rode on a simple dirt road for a bit and even slid the big pig around some, I felt really good. So although I won't be balls to the wall, I think I'm still in...
One XL please. I'll about 80% in but if I end up not making it up you can hand it off to DSfox and I'll get it from her later.
Well guys, sadly I'm out. My wife had a girl's weekend planned and a cancellation too late to pull out, so it looks like I am going to have a date weekend with her as opposed to riding. Have fun and I'll come out there at some point.
