I showed up on my street tired NC700x. It was 28'F when I left my house outside of Henryville at 645am. It was COLD. I was good except for my fingers (note to self-get heated glove liners hooked up asap). I met a couple of young gentleman from Seymour/Columbus area-sorry, forgot their names but one of them road the big orange coolaid ktm 990 (great looking bike).

I didn't take any pics (too dang cold to take the gloves off) but there is one pic at the Loogootee lunch stop showing the NC700x. I rode some more after Loogootee (for about an hour) and decided I had enough of gravel roads (I think I rode more gravel road on Saturday than all my riding combined-now at 120,000 miles since May 2007); I wasn't staying the night at the campground, so I took the first pavement road after the big tire fixing stop (where many bikes were stopped watching the repair work) and rode numerous asphalt roads and meandered my way back to Henryville. Somewhere southeast of Jasper I passed the KTM going the opposite directions and a few miles/roads later I passed the green old Honda going the other directions-nice roads I had never been on but plan on going again. For awhile, I tried to follow the route, but I had to take some parallel roads which wasn't gravel-ended up in Birdseye and then took highways home.

Even with all the gravel (I am kind of an old country asphalt kind of guy), I had fun on the ride and having lunch with the Seymour/Columbus guys. Next set of tires on the NC700 will be 80/20 or 70/30 tires-these 100% street tires on downhill gravel was kind of interesting (fishtailed many times :-)).

    Great people.

Friday night at the Holiday Inn I saw a good looking KLR. And it was clean.

OK, here's my report of Day #2.

Only slept 'OK' Saturday night. We had 4 folks in the cabin, no big snore problems but the cabin was either hot or cold. Think Josh had it the worst up in the loft.

We took our time getting ready and visited Sunday morning. Seems Roaddad was having some electrical problems but he got it started.

Got back to Jeff's and he took a spin on my WR.

Had a great weekend. Thanks to my riding partners, sorry for the many wrong turns while leading you guys around.

Also another big shout out to Roaddad for all the hard work.

I know it isn't easy laying out a ride of this length.

    Here's to next year!

Got anything to post yet Jerry????????

Weaver, I regret not getting to bestow my blessing on your Squidbillies sticker.
Great to see the usual inmates.
Frank, why does my facemask smell like starting fluid?

You too Gplane. Thanks for the ride back, although a little off course I thought the sights were great! Hope to see you at the Unnofficial hnf next week. I'm out for the Loose nut due to prior commitments. Later

Haha... Honestly, I have no idea. Is yours the one that oPaulo soaked with starting fluid and stuffed in his airbox so he could get that banana bike running on that chilly morning?

Again it was a great ride. The dirt road with all the creek crossings, old route 37 and Skyline Drive in the park were outstanding.

So, while hanging around the campgrounds Saturday night meeting people, I mentioned my XR400 that I had given up on. A little later, around the campfire, I received a couple of pep talks about it. Word travels fast around here (in a good way:D). Today, thanks to you guys (and you know who you are) I am the happiest Moran in the Nation...

That's awesome! :clap You'll enjoy that bike. Now all you need is some super sweet 17" street sneakers to go on it.... I just sold my XR4 last December but kept my street wheels....cuz I knew you'd be wanting them :evil

I hope you still have those wheels when I have some money...

Agreed, although the tiger can't be beat on the pavement and by the end of the ride I was getting pretty comfortable with it in the gravel.

I may have to pack a little lighter on this one:D. The BMV was a breeze. I walked in with a smile and walked out ten minutes later with the plate, no extra paperwork or hassle. They treated me kinda like a citizen instead of a criminal.

It's not looking good for this weekend, but there's an outside chance I make it Sunday. I'm hoping to make the unofficial.
