Rick and Chris, I'm heading there the last week of September. If you're going to be around I'll take the northern route out and the southern route back. That means I'll be in Holdrege, NE, on the 20th and 21st visiting friends and should head your way on the 22nd (Sunday). Looks like it's around 550 miles from there to Carbondale. That's longer than I like to ride in a day but I certainly can do it so I should arrive in Carbondale late on the afternoon of the 22nd. Does this mean you're not going to make it to ALARR? I know everyone would love to see you if you can make it. If not, I'll look forward to seeing you in around the 22nd. Ken
So what is the plan here? I am trying to convince myself that this is going to be worth the ride. If it is just going to be Bananaman and Nata Harley in a van I can save a bunch of money and we can do the rally via Skype.
link to quote I will not be able to make it to this year LARR as I'll be in Europe on those dates. However, I would like to use this opportunity to refresh Bman with quote above. I think that for 2014 or 2015 we should plan the next LARR in Nicaragua I'm sure we can get enough rental bikes for everyone and do some fun riding around the country and potentially cross into honduras or costa rica.. what do you think
Hey! But, but... You're right. I say we all ride down to Grenada and park our bikes on the island in the Oasis and then get sloppy on ceviche, fish cheeks, and Nicaragua beer. If I leave now, I could get there and have the table ready for you. Wait- isn't Boaz, WI, an "Exotic location." ? The island inside the Oasis in Grenada: The bikes falling while Sal yells "Picture!!!"
Hi! I finally found the thread. I'm not on ADV that much or on my bike either . However, I am going to do my damnedest to make it up to WI. It'd be nice to ride up, but there is just so much flat Iowa to drive through to get to WI. For the record, Boaz & Max's place are very scenic and is an excellent venue.
I lived in Iowa for 10 years and it's about as flat as Kansas! You won't find much better county/farm roads in this part of the country than in Iowa. If you want flat, ride up I-29 to Winnipeg. But once you get to Max's place the riding definitely improves. Especially riding up the hill in the pasture to the parilla pit. If I can get a <s>bitch</s> hitch installed on my van and borrow a friend's 250 dirt bike I'll show everyone how to get up the hill in style. It would be worth attending just to see me ride up the hill.
Oh no Max, Nata doing something in style means you better have EMT's close by and flight for life on call.
Going to try and make the haul up bringing my XRs, I'll know when I get there Pm me some direction to the farm Max
If it's OK with Max I'm heading up on Thursday morning and will arrive mid to late afternoon. I can spend Friday goofing off, going to Taliesen, or helping Max get the place set up. You notice the order I've listed the possibilities. My phone # is 816.379.9654. Maybe Max can post his also. It's going to be really interesting to see who's showing up this year. :eek1
608-515-6382 ps: I have to work the Farmers Market in Madison on Saturday from 6 AM to 2 PM. It's a bonified destination and you guys should come. Ken- you can ride my pig.
Damn, Mike I was hoping you could make it. I'm going to leave the XO at home since you won't be there and just bring the regular 23yr old Ron Zacapa with me. Some friends and I will crack open the XO some winter evening and I'll let you know how it is. Ben, I was looking forward to hopping on that KLR again. Hope you can make it next year.
I'll just ride in with you if that would work. I'm leaving first thing Thursday morning. Where are you going to be that afternoon?
