ditto to happy trails skid plate....
    - substantial up front protection
    - seemingly wider than most
    - mounts to frame & crash bars (heed for me)
    - steel

    yeah, it's big....
i don't mind having to remove it for oil-changes.....

on par w/ my no-longer available favourite, endurogaurdian...

^ to the two above, Happy Trails.
Mine has taken a beating, and I drilled an access to the oil plug.

I felt the Happy Trails was a bit too wide and was pretty low. I think HT made their name with the KLR crowd. Once your are used to designing for fat girls it's hard to make something slim.:muutt
Once I did a full Delkevic De-cat exhaust I fabbed up a couple of spacers out of 1/2 bar stock for the bar mounts to move it forward enough to raise it about 2"

Did you check for tire clearance with rear suspension fully collapsed?

The Givi bag mounting system made for a PERFECT mounting point for both top and bottom.

Hey guys, looking at a 14 with under 1k on it. The seller is asking 6.5k obo. Reading through the thread sounds like a good bike. Would have to add hard luggage though. SW- motech looks good but pricey. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Dont know Your location so I won't comment on price. However make sure the ECU upgrade has been done on the bike.

Am I the only one here that hasn't had the ECU recall performed?

My 2014 never had stalling issues or the other characteristics many have reported. My bike isn't broken so I can't see 'fixing' it.

I never had any issues with my 2014 ECU either. I did have the recall done, but mine has always run and performed perfectly. I only have 20,000 miles on my 2014, so it's not high mileage yet, but I've never done anything but oil changes, lubed the chain, and changed the brake fluid. Even to factory air filter and battery are still there and going strong.

Six year old rubber and fluids likely...I would do the clutch and brake fluid flush/replace/bleed, change oil and filter and tires. Maybe siphon out old gas and run a can of your favorite injector cleaner. Then, congrats...you have an awesome adventure tourer for paved, gravel and groomed dirt roads.

If you end up buying it and you want a deal on used hard luggage let me know. I recently took my Givi Outback Trekker set off and I'd make you a solid deal on the racks and hard bags. I'm going to a Mosko Moto set of soft bags. I just don't like the size and weight.
