It's definitely an Aussie media training thing. Listen to Casey Stoner interviews, he always refers to to 'we'. It's an attempt to be humble and inclusive of the team when things are going well.
Upcoming changes at trackingdakar.nl
Most of you know and use the "new" all-in-one live timing monitor, but most of the visitors of trackingdakar.nl visit the homepage and stay there. That page is ancient and so are the connected pages. Even the "bubble thingy" is hidden there somewhere.
It's time for a change, time to renew the pages and make them mobile friendly. But with so many visitors it's something to just change the website. It will scare people. They will think wtf is this? Where are my links/buttons? How does this work? Where did my waypoints go?
I tried to fit the old pages in the new style without changing to much. I didn't make the waypoints table completely responsive like the all-in-one screen, but kept it a scrollable table. The rest of the page adjusts to fit the size of your screen.
The new entry page could become the following page: http://trackingdakar.nl/waypoints.php
This page contains almost the same features and data as the old entry page. Could some of you check it out and see if you are or get familiar with it? Is it to different? Less handy? Are there good reasons why I shouldn't replace the old one?
There are a few things I want to add before I replace it:
- a little help / guide to explain users what's what and what can be found where
- the live and summary position tables have not been converted yet, maybe I can do it after releasing this part
- a link to switch to the old view when people can't get used to the new layout
Anyone got the chance to try it? The "bubble thingy" can be found where it used to be. On the "waypoints" page, the one that opens when you click the link above, you can click one of the waypoints in the headers to request the details of that waypoint. Like before you can click one of the riders you wish to track on that waypoint. Maybe you will notice the icon on right of the vehicle icons: a real bubbly thingy icon to open the waypoint with the last known data. This will almost give you a live overview of riders at that checkpoint.
I hope you like the layout. Time to go to bed after a long long day. Hope to read some good stuff tomorrow :)
Good old Corky, leave only footprints !
Great work I just posted about an update of the old screens... I don't dare to ask
Did the guys in France2 just say that the issue with Cyril Despres car was a broken down turbo? My French isn't really good enough to know 100%.

We're seeing one of my favorite parts of the world right now.
Nice up in the Mountains of Boliva ... From Hrc Boss
Good points. My perspective on Fiambala was really from a car point of view. Dunes on bikes are fun and fairly easy other than nav I guess.
Nice improvements. One suggestion for the tables, at least for mobile viewers, would be to freeze the left columns up to the name. That way when a person scrolls to the right they won't lose sight of the competitor. Not even sure if it's possible.
Thanks so much for assembling everything.
Mechanics ( Rally Raid UK) arent going to have much time for repairs...
GO!!! Annie GO!!!
Edit: New site only shows wp's as opposed to wp's and cp's
On my phone, I cant tell a difference.
Thanks for all your hard work Mischa, I cant imagine how lame it would be to have tobuse the aso's website
So here are some of the landscapes of Stage 6. This is a fascinating part of the world for me and I love to see Dakar in Bolivia.
