That section from the dunes up to the high point is some of the most spectacular riding out there. Lost of HP opportunities and ridges to ride up. You can basically ride anywhere, but got to be careful because there are cliffs and boulder strewn slopes that can cut you off. I suspect they will take a route past a little mine called Tatasi.

I would love to set routes for the Dakar in Bolivia. This little jaunt around the Salar is not exactly creative. There are a lot more technical and interesting places they could have gone to in a loop from Uyuni too.

    Tiregate for the cars...:patch

On today's France 4 broadcast interview with the Toyota team manager and, just like Nasser said, is very impressed with the performance of the Pugs, that they did a very good job improving the car over the year. However he says that Toyota and Mini will be banging their fists on the table when meeting with Michelin after Dakar because Michelin, at the request of Peugeot designed a 100% new tire because they were not satisfied with the performance of last years tire. Michelin has been supplying Toyota and Mini with the same tire for past 10 years.

The broadcast later continues with an interview with Michelin that describe the new tire, designed upon request from and in conjunction with Peugeot. Narrower, new compound, new more open tread pattern, better braking performance etc... versus the tire they had last year. Michelin is French n'est ce pas?...:feelgoodoh! and so is Peugeot! but not so much Toyota and Mini... that's odd

What Honda marketing do not understand is that having 6 riders on a good bike will not win. Even if they do win the Rallye they still lose as KTM has 60% of the field riding for them. That's a win no matter what the results ! Honda will have to make a bike that is more attractive to buy/race than the KTM - Either cheaper or better or both that Dakar competitors can buy if they want to win the Dakar. KTM have taken that hill and one win by Honda will not give them that hill ! In terms of marketing KTM own the off road racing hill they focused on it and they have won it.

She's not huge either......I've met her, at a WTC competition. Not small, no. But I'd say equal to an average size man. Very pleasant person to chat with.

I was thinking that strength would be an issue in the dunes but not after seeing that save. Hope she continues to impress

No disrespect man but were you there when he crashed and broke the handle bar or were you there an hour after the story first started. I have no doubt he could ride 100km with one handle bar but at almost racing speed ? (he only lost a few minutes I thought) Ill need to see the video :-) To be honest that whole story made be loose respect for him.

PRICE CONQUERS NAVIGATION AND HIGH SPEED
    [IMG]

KTM’s Toby Price is continuing to progress in the overall standings at the 2016 Dakar Rally, with a third stage win on Day 6.

Price lead the 542 km Uyuni special stage trek from start to finish.

Tricky navigation today, we were high speed and it tightened up which made it pretty hard so you had to slow down and make sure you just processed all your notes properly,” Price said.

The KTM Rider’s health remains exceptional throughout the changing altitudes.

The thin air reduces the horsepower, so it’s frustrating sometimes but the bike is holding up well and is in good shape,” Price said.

Stage 6 assisted Price’s confidence towards riding in traffic after following issues in stage 3.

To come away with a stage win and lead from start to finish I’m pretty pumped with that, its been a good day and has put us in a good spot,” Price said.

A third stage win has projected Price into second place in the overall standings.

Almost at the halfway mark now and I’m looking forward to the second week,” Price said.

Added a Factory Team sheet in the Google Sheet. I think I got 'em right but somebody might check. Too many people to put all on one chart, it gets too busy... we could drop the water carriers off and then compare them directly. The darned Google Sheet chart margins are huge and I can't figure out how to reduce them. Walkner comes out looking pretty consistent.
