Do they have any dunes around here? Tricky navigation as in follow the gravel roads? At the half way point last year I had numerous spectacular photos saved and was sharing on social media. This year has been nothing of the same. But there is round 2 waiting in the wings. Bring back the Dakar in her punishing S&M roles. I don't think there has even been a lost pilot this year. Flloodgate/WRCgate.
I'm here till the end. God speed to all involved.
Oh yea, thank you all F5'ers. :clap:clap:clap (slow clap)

Funny you say that Hog' - I was going to say that stage 1 this year was almost exactly stage 1 of 2011 too - slightly different start point, but the initial liaison and the arc to the ASS was almost exactly the same...

The bivouacs were in slightly different places of course, but the route/stage itself was pretty much the same.

Of course this year it was cancelled anyway. Hopefully the same fate won't befall Stage 8.

If you want the pictures, the cave in it, you have not many options in an mountain area.

If I'm not mistaken the "rally" is the production bike, the "replica" is rally ++, or the production rally bike with those infamous unobtainium parts added :thumb

Right or wrong, every sport gets bastardized? Motocross turns into Supercross. Enduro turns into Endurocross.

Lots of reasons I guess. The money men show up. Lack of space for outdoor events. Everything has to be "extreme". Easier for spectators and participants.

I agree, South American Dakar is not North Africa Dakar, but better than no Dakar at all.

Stage 8 is the second part (basicly) is mostly above the national, part of the stage in 2014. And then reverse, ending on the DSS of 2014, just a last part is strait track south.

    This should be sand.

There are various producers of this stand. I can´t tell you an exact name. I bought it used from a friend of me about 3 months ago. One of the best investions so far ! It stands very stable, really nice to work on the bike with that

Yeah, I waited a bit longer and got the photo a little further up the road. It was a blast riding that wash out of Tupiza before hooking up with the mountain road.

    The view from down below.

There's dunes manana (unless I'm wrong yet again). Looking forward to seeing who's really good in the dunes.
