Bikes are now lined up at the start of the special, waiting as the start has been delayed. Do we know if its raining there? Sorry, only have phone acces for the next couple of hours or I'd check myself....

Yeah, the use of "CET" (GMT+1) confused me at first but I just said screwit, I know the difference between there and here so can set the alarm clock appropriately. And so far I've been up and coffee'd in plenty of time to shut it off so it doesn't wake Gus unnecessarily.

RallyPanAm just posted on FB, a photo of them leaving the liaison...down pour of rain. I'd be very surprised if today isnt cancelled. Quotes from yesterday were the dirt roads were slick as ice. Good news is Laia will likely be taking selfies again while she waits :viking

Ted, nothing through yet on any of the feeds that i have seen. One report from Giniel de Villiers one hour ago though:

Overcast and fog this morning in Carlos Paz. Hopefully we can race today.#dakar2016

Difficult decision for the organizers. Glad I´m not in their shoes right now. Damned if they do Damned if they dont.

I didn't mean to imply the spectators were ill intentioned, or the help wasn't useful. It's hard to stand a bike on end by yourself, and they looked like they knew a bit out what they were doing.

I'd just want to be the one with my hand on the throttle and the starter button/kicker, and putting the air filter back in.

I've been grateful for the help of bystanders several times while travelling: overly enthusiastic (Vietnam with clutch issues); reluctant (stuck in the sand with my fully laden KLR on the race course a day ahead of watching the final Lac Rose finish in Dakar); looking to provide service for a price (flat tire in Bamako, water crossing at Mali/Senegal border); serendipitous (guy with full mechanics set-up in his suburban Canadian garage, including lift and tire-change machine).

I actually thought it would be more. Regardless, huge respect to you and your dad. :hello2 We were following you guys with great interest.

Seeing the guys out there right now, do you wish you were there?

BTW Thanks for your comment on the engine change; I had forgotten about that!
