    dislocation sternum clavicule, this I have also, if it is minor they are conservative do nothing (they did with me ;-( wrong) but result is, it is not steady, it moves using your arm, missing a restpoint, so your constantly keeping your arm up with your muscles, what gives tension in the muscle of the neck. etc. It must be treated well.

    Kellon Walch (Robby's navigator) just texted me:

    Just getting back to the biv. Lost an idler pulley early and then lost a rear gear 60k from finish. We know we could have been up there for the stage win. It was gnarly. Super soft and lots of camel grass. They are saying tomorrow is 95% HP and the toughest day of the rally.

    +1

    Cheeko :clap:clap:clap get's an "A+" on his F5 exam, for picking up on this. (The only one) :D

    Interesting "loophole" that may have been found and (the most likely one) if Famin/Peugeot have not "screwed the rule book pooch" completely.

    Quandt's protest is based on the fact that Peterhansel/Peugeot refuelled at a MOTO refuel (not authorized for cars)... but why else would there be diesel fuel at a refuel point designated for "Moto's" otherwise? (although I always assumed the NRJ "refuel" clause was for electric powered vehicles... but again "loophole" maybe).

    Nice one Cheeko... lets see what the FIA Jury say? :ear

    Is it? There was a fuel stop on the CH, is that free to all competitors?

    The regs are a bit vague:

    3) Refuelling
    a) The obtaining of fuel is authorised uniquely, on pain of Disqualification:
    • at commercial service stations in the Stage towns or on the Road Sections;
    • via distributors authorised by the Organisers (list available upon request) at the Bivouac on the designed area;
    • at the Organiser’s distribution points (Bike refuelling for NRJ Challenge Vehicles).
    I thought that ASO considered CH / Neutralisations as part of the stage and not 'road sections'. If so, then they can only get fuel from the orga distribution points - i.e. the bike refuel.

    I've no idea how they'd monitor the field to see who had stopped in the CH, though. I guess you could check the GPS track to see who stopped at the servos (service / petrol / gas stations for those non Aussies out there), but even then the competitors could insist that they just stopped for a piss and a pie!

    Alternatively perhaps Pug interpreted the rules differently and consider CH zones to be road sections, and therefore think they're allowed to fill up at a servo.

    As an aside, what kind of servo snacks do you think Mr Dakar picks up? A couple of Cherry Ripes and a Big M? Or if there's cameras around, a couple of Cherry Ripes and a Red Bull? :lol3

    As a young engineer going into off-road vehicle design this is a high priority. Engineers who design with no consideration for maintenance, replacements, likely failures, track-side repairs, etc are often simply transferring the work they should have done onto the drivers/riders in the field.

    Sometimes this can certainly conflict with the pursuit of performance (and never forgetting cost) but here the PUGs are a great example of engineering elegance - plenty fast and hard to kill :bow

    Hi Bill,

    the CH is regarded as part of the (nutralized) special stage - not liason (road section) - so only refuel for MOTO or the NRJ challenge vehicles*

    *I went to the book to check my memory: :deal

    5) CHALLENGE NRJ: “ALTERNATIVE ENERGY”
    a) In the T1, T2 and T3 Groups, there will be a challenge for Cross-Country Vehicles powered by alternative energy (biodegradable fuel, hybrids engines, ethanol, gas, hydrogen, etc.).
    Vehicles will be accepted in this challenge upon receipt of a detailed file, presented before 1st October 2015.
    b) These Vehicles must have sufficient range to cover the distance from the Bivouac to the Finish of the Selective Section, except for 100% electric Vehicles which may, upon request, and after approval, ask for a change of battery(ies) / recharge(s) at bike refuelling (refuelling point organised for bikes throughout the Event), at the Start of the Selective Section, the Finish of the Selective Section, and possibly at CPs, with a maximum of one battery / recharge change every 250 km. For Vehicles using biodegradable fuels, the fuel used to travel from the Bivouac to the Start of the Selective Section, as well as the Selective Section itself, must be the fuel declared at Scrutineering

    Boo-yah... :norton (Sven never wastes his protest fees needlessly) :wink:

    Clearly the PUG has breached the rule. :nod

    The only question is how much of a penalty (at the discretion of the FIA jury) that will be awarded. :brow

    Ha ha ha
    Peterhansel strolls into a servo
    Buys a Coke
    Slugs it down right in front of the shopkeeper
    Says "No one. Will. Ever. Believe you."
    And walks straight out.
