still only WP1 times, but Gonk is actually loosing 2 mins to TP...which seems like a lot over that distance. At least we know what is TP's strategy for today's stage!

Yep, my bad, was reading it opposite (wishful thinking!). I hope Gonçalves is just sore and warming up, and that he haven't damaged himself yesterday!

Why is the neutralized zone a green dashed line and not a red dashed line, meaning it is a neutralized zone of the selective stage (red)

So it's Price who's getting it wrong :D

Go Speedy, keep it in one piece. TP is risking a Barreda, marathon stage and all.

What I am not convinced is that this will be a true HP, waypoint chasing, navigational challenging stage. I hope it will!

    calm down f5olks...

it is TOMORROW that the super special "mix 'em up and run 'em over" stage is planned; :deal
(that's why I did not have time to mention it before - myways post about TP wanting to start out front - reminded me)

    Tomorrow's route - stage 10
    Fiambalá in style

The Fiambalá dunes have become one of the decisive stages of the Dakar. This year, they feature at the heart of the most critical rally sequence, when drivers and their vehicles will have to demonstrate their aptitude for extreme endurance. Moreover, the day's stage presents the longest dune section in the shared history of the Dakar and Fiambalá, off-piste for most of the time. In short, an open door for desert specialists. This “super-special section” will be organised using an exceptional starting order: the ten fastest cars, the ten fastest motorbikes and the five fastest trucks will set off together, paving the way for the other competitors.

    Bikes: Price sets the pace
At the first Way Point on the special, general standings leader Toby Price (KTM) appears to have set off at a very good pace. Currently leading the stage, he boasts a 2'03'' advantage over his most serious rival, Paulo Gonàalves (Honda). Stefan Svitko (KTM) is credited with the second best time so far, in between the Australian and the Portuguese rider.

    Cars: inquiry concerning Stéphane Peterhansel
The Mini team filed a complaint yesterday, against Stéphane Peterhansel, the current leader of the general standings, due to refuelling conducted in an unauthorised zone (180 km from the end of the special). As a result, the race officials have opened an inquiry to check whether this refuelling was illegal or not.
Peugeot Sport team director Bruno Famin confirmed the filing of the complaint, whilst pointing out that, “this refuelling was legal because it was on the road-book. I don't understand the complaint and we're waiting to find out more about it”.
Should the complaint be deemed valid, Stéphane Peterhansel, who has been summoned to see the race officials this evening, could receive a 6-hour penalty or even be disqualified.

This reminds strangely of the Uyuni fiasco and an attempt to get the maximal photographic value.
And it's happening after the marathon stage on the 10th day?!
    Let's wait and see.
