On liaison. Staring early this morning to get to race stage. So this cafe at 225km was a welcome break for our team

In the last ( I think ) Australian Safari to leave from Sydney - a guy entered a Triumph with a sidecar - riding it solo. The SC box was literally a square wooden box and looked HEAVY.

I take my hat off to anyone with a sense of adventure - but unfortunately he broke the sidecar mounts off during the prologue, which was run around a 2 km course on a grassy field at a Sydney fun park. Optimism is one thing, having no appreciation of what he was about to face is another.........

After 270 km, Helder Rodrigues (Yamaha) has regained time on Kevin Benavides (Honda), gobbling up 2'04'' on the Honda rider. He has also posted the best time at this way point. As for Antoine Meo, the gap between him and Pablo Quintanilla remains stable at around 4 minutes.

    petrol

The American rider has suffered a blow due to a stoppage 12 kilometres from CP3 (after 248 km), having run out of petrol... It is all the more of a pity, because CP3 is the refuelling point for the bikes.

Another rider in the top 50 who has done consistently very good and continues to do better is Venezuelan Nicolas Cardona Vagnoni, N 91. He's ridden a helluva consistent race. This is his 3rd Dakar.

Anyone(Troy) know the restrictor used on diesels? Is it a boost limit or do they also have an air intake restrictor plate?

Something happened to Brian Baragwanath between WP2 and WP3.
At WP2 he was lying 3rd overall, and 2nd on the stage.
At WP3 he has dropped to 4th overall, and 10th on stage. Karyakin has moved into 3rd overall, with a gap of around 7 minutes between him and Brian.

    Aiya!

Someone will tow him I'm sure - they question is who and when (to try and keep him in the top 30 o/a)...

Scott is still a way back... maybe he can flag down Manny? - that would certainly cement his position as an F5 favourite for evermore!
