Shifting tracks a bit have to say Eurosport Dakar coverage has been pretty good this year. Carlton is on his game and the videos have been awesome. Not as much video of the bikes as in quite a few years past, but better than the last few years. Like the My Dakar vids which had many of the privateers. F4 has had some slightly different video from their own copters and ground crew but lots more talk and mostly the same ASO video, but not as energetic this year. Their main guy this year is almost too mellow. My 2 centimes.

    STRESS HEADS AND THE REST

Aspiring winners will certainly be those who find the 180km of the day's special section the most difficult, designed with twisty, undulating routes, faster sandy and rocky sections… leading to significant levels of stress. For most of the others, the 699km to be covered before reaching the podium in Rosario will be a relief. To be enjoyed without moderation…

Is there any way to tell if they're successfully underway on the first liason?
    Leaving on time?

Over 40 riders should already be underway....

Or have I got my clocks wrong?

Believe it or not, Rob is actually a front runner and winner of an event many fail to finish, Tuareg, and has plenty of experience.

Strong lad but he is tiring now. Rode it yesterday like Barreda did once, with a broken handlebar! Clutch side was fine but the throttle side hanging on the cables.

Starting from the ROF could be interesting. Is it likely to be a dusty stage? Obviously the guys leading off will know the quicker guys are coming up from the back, but can Svitko, Price et al expect any problems getting through.

Svitko deserves a podium I think. He's been consistent, almost trouble free, and kept himself at the pointy end and in with a chance.

Hope everyone finishes today. Bloody shame when someone goes out on the last stage. I always think of Lopez and his Aprilia (still the best looking bike ever made imho)
