    Motorcycles: We're off!
It's one last effort for the 84 motorcycles and 23 quads on the start line this morning. The special has just begun. The competitors will start their trek to Rosario in reverse general classification order. The chance to catch a breather and bask in the glory of finishing the Dakar is just 180 timed kilometres away.

If you look at the quad lineup you'll see heavy domantion by one brand which is why they don't talk about it too much... (Yamaha)

For the fugliness of helder's bike, after reading 640 armegeddon's post about that it takes to design and build a true rally fairing, and that the wr450r is new again this year, it was probably an afterthought. The plexiglass portion looks like something I could have made. No harm no foul and I think it still looks good. Just different or technical focused...

Motorcycles: Laia Sanz digs into her suitcase of courage
The four-time enduro world champion started the Dakar with the aim to finish in the top 10. Unfortunately for the Spaniard, a fall put paid to her hopes two days ago. Laia broke her collarbone, but she is hanging on tough to reach Rosario. After showing most of her male rivals what's what in the general classification, the KTM rider now shows how tough she is. She finished the longest stage of this year's edition yesterday, so she looks certain to come up with the strength she needs to complete today's 699 km stage. What a woman!

One think to note with Pablo in 3rd, technically the ktms are actually closer to the real world huskies with their linkage suspensions. Any thoughts on why they are linkage instead of pds? Better for higher speed versus enduro?

    From Sherco

Excerpt from the race postponement of sherco yesterday... Unbelievable!
"... Alain share the bit between your teeth and on runways sometimes dangerous, he double many competitors. His rhythm is excellent and two-thirds of the sector timed it, it's already 7th at the scratch. He wants to finish strong and these tracks are suitable for him perfectly.
But at km 292, after a small fall on a very steep, Alain raises his helmet time to check that his bike is in a state of start and restart. It was then that a teenager came out of nowhere grabbed the helmet and runs away. Joints by phone, we go back to him and give him a new helmet, mandatory to be able to resume the race.
Alain: " it's just surreal... I never thought I'd live to see this day. Until then I was good and I saw that this step could bring me something. It's just incredible ".
Still in shock, we do not forget our homework, and the whole team remains at work to bring, tomorrow, the pilots up to the last step."

    Motorcycles: The bee hangs on
Sylvain Espinasse is set to complete his challenge in his third Dakar start. The Frenchman, the only rider on a two-stroke 125 cc motorcycle, has been through hell in this edition. Technical problems, late arrivals at the bivouac and the ensuing fatigue weren't enough to knock the man with the Husqvarna 125 out of the race. However, he's not likely to repeat the experience soon...
