My Spanish is pretty rusty, but it looks like someone fell asleep and they crossed the road. One person injured with a broken bone, and the gordini was impounded by local authorities. So they didn't finish the liaison.... Withdrawal.... Rough year for Robby.

Planet Robby blog stated a support vehicle was involved in an accident so Robby headed back to the scene. Since he did not show up for the podium he was considered withdrawn. Saw a video of a Hummer that had rolled but couldn't make out the number on it. Both of the Gordinis were on the scene.

Your powers grow weaker every moment, Mister Bond. :flip
But you're right, one mention of them will surely make our chances of hosting the ASOles almost non-existant.
I should also mention that I feel the race is in exactly the right part of the world that it should be in - amazing terrain, challenging tracks, difficult environment, welcoming and passionate locals. Can't ask for more in a location.

Sorry Troy but I'm going to have to pull you up here mate as you've completely forgotten about the "rogue sheilas" who will pop up out of no where and flash at the competitors as they go past. Competitors who are "on" their road book will miss out..........don't ask me how I know :(:

Okay... due to the unprecidented "AUSSIE" participation in F5 DAKAR this year, we the antipodeans have managed to turn the last page of the 2016 DAKAR f5irehose into something like the minutes from a faculty meeting of the Philosophy Dept. of the University of Woolloomoolloo. :norton

So without futher adieu, I would suggest that those who want to pontificate over the possibillity of an "Aussie DAKAR" - in French regi or otherwise, please f5¤k off with me back down to the Oz-sylum forum where we can investigate the inside of a six-pack together...

    amen, crack the tubes. :1drink

It's bad enough that the Dakar has finished but to talk about those epic Australian rallys like that and us knowing they have gone it's too much.

Thanks Troy, that's pretty much what I thought you'd say (though in much greater detail) But oh wouldn't it be great
