Lots of rain... #Dakar
Lucky one! My 11 month toddler won't allow me more than a peek here once in a while!
Ruben was lucky with his starting number! 3 minutes to shave on JBB today, let's hope it happens. Helder also where he wants to be. Gonçalves will have a rougher start but at least there won't be much dust today, so starting from twentieth something might not be that catastrophic - it's a loooong race!!
Yes CET is GMT + 1 but as you say they seem to have them the same!
Here we go again !
To all you guys @ Team F5
Good morning all. So glad to hear the race is upon us. Has anyone seen an update on the spectators that got hit yesterday? I have to be at work for 12 hrs today so my goal is simply to stay ahead of the sweeper truck but then i'm free again for a couple days to caffeine up and throttle to the donkey.
Autos field also looks very talented this year. It's going to be an awesome race to follow this year (as always!)
F5ire is the hose...? (maybe)
How about a bit of context with this?
What colors should we cheer?
This heavy rain will bring drama today.
There was speculation that the new KTM's like Laia is on have ram air ducting up front (to get the big ponies out of the 450's) that could let a lot of water right into the airbox more easily. Anybody know those bikes up close and personal enough to confirm or deny?
Mischa has very kindly included a local time clock on his tracker - bottom left corner !!
red/purple= heavy rain
lets cheer the lighter blue end of the scale
All makes sense on the timing - I'm sure the Argentines aren't too keen on using a time based on the UK
Wheres Hogwild and the other "map freaks"? Roads or rio's today? ASO must bevstressed after neutralizing yesterdays stage (cars and trucks) and now debating safety versus a second neutralized stage.
Good morning everyone and welcome to the F5 hose! It's been a little more than a half hour. We should be hearing something soon!
Merci Monsieur Safari
Thunderstorms in the area of the special have forced the organisers to postpone the start yet again. The first competitor is now scheduled to start at 9 am local time.
The focus is on track conditions right now. The rain has turned parts of the special into torrents of water.
Remember that today's timed section will be 258 km long for the cars and trucks and "only" 227 km long for the motorcycles and quads. The first part will be raced on the same course, but the motorcycles and quads will follow their own course from km 121.6. After just over 23 km, they will return to the course used by the cars and trucks, which in turn will tackle a specific loop for the final 18 km of the special.
