Dakar.com just pisted a second delay....not looking good.
It's gone ten minutes now past the re-scheduled 08:30 am start DSS for SS1... and still no rider shown as departed on the POSIS (DSS depart) or the ASO matrix on the Dakar.com page.
Seem's that there may still be a delay at the start control due to the weather.
EDIT: Dakar.com now confirm start pushed back to 09:00 Argentine time.
Strap on the rubber f5olks... it's gonna' be sloppy...!!!
Anybody here following that race in South America? What's it called?
Just checking in!
Looks like everything on the Special is on "roads" of some sort. Should be fast in the early part of the stage. Lots of long straights on larger roads. There looks to be 40+ km on very small backroad tracks in the area southeast of San Roque and Embalse Cerro Pelado. (per HogWild's GE track)
So bikes are lined up at the start waiting, in the pouring rain...hard way to start a race. Cold and wet. Wish I was there sellibg umbrellas and dry riding gloves
Depends on how bad the rains blow everything out. They've delayed the start 2x already. Could be a freak show once the flag does drop on the stage.
Thunderstorms or just flatout pissing down everywhere ?? lol
Fucking soft. Excellent opportunity to thin the herd nicely.

RUMORS at the start: the ASO is thinking to cancel stage 1. becouse of bad rain and wind #Dakar2016
If the helos can't fly and see the course, they don't run the stage.
I posted the WHOLE stage Google Earth file a few pages back and nobody noticed. Maybe I'll just keep it to myself next time. Worked through the night trying to map Stage 2, still at it.
That is a sad think ti happen in a race.
I live in a part of the world where mud is a reality when riding a bike....so a part of me wants to see them have to deal with it. The other part of me worries about the back runners having sliding cars and trucks coming up behind them....but its Dakar, the most dangerous race in the world and racers knew this when they signed up.
Marc...dont cancel the stage!!!!
For Marc Safety is Paramount
I did - and, as always, my mind boggles at how you come up with such detail.
Not many get aussie humour
I followed the whole moto track on GE. Great stuff. Posted a brief response to TSC a few posts back. If you don't post stage 2, just send it to me.
Presuming the stage is neutralized...does Troy lock this thread and we head back to the pre race thread? Threadgate?
I was impressed, if that helps.
Raingate already......ho-chi-momma! Its gonna be a long day.
