I guess so...?! :D Rhino was the first... so we will take the ball and run with it f5 style.

THIS :deal is forthwith the off5icial pre-Dakar 2016 thread, where any and all DAKAR 2016 pre event related information, discussion or rampant speculation takes place - and leave the bivouac thread to "general" rally info as much as possible. :beer

I've seen glimpses of Sam's recovery process over the last days on "le book"...

It's looking promising so far too old...? (far moreso than I would have first expected) :thumb

Riding a 15 day race with a three month old femur injury earns you major Grit points.
I think he should ride only if he's completely certain he can finish.
Aiming for the win compounds the risk manyfold.

This whole "DAKAR pre-thread" idea (months of November/december traditionally) had a bit of a "false start" a couple of weeks back...

maybe it'll "grow some legs" now...? :augie (sorry Sam :shog :fpalm) no pun intended :deal :lol3

Doyle quoted: "Ugh. (broken femur injury) Sucks for Sam. It's going to be an interesting Dakar missing Despres, Coma, Sam, and possibly Barreda. Changing landscape...."

Troy said: That sound's like the introduction theme music to; :deal

Well I have to announce that after several years as a devoted Team F5 member, I have jumped ship....

I'm now with Team Command R

So who to follow in 2016?

Well the usual suspects apart, I shall again be rooting for Chris "Corky" Cork and hoping he manages to get past day four unlike this year!

    Hello Boys n girlz :wave

Glad to see the pre Dakar rumble is building up nicely.

    hmmmm
Quite a bit of drama, I have missed. The jedi knights ready they are not....yet ready the nights are for receiving them.

    Let me say this:

I like Toby Price, but he does not walk on water.

I'd like to see him win the Dakar, but I'd preferto see the Gonk win even more. Lets not forget this: TP did not beat Coma in the world championships, and he is not winning it this year either. True, he has not been on the rally scene for long - this works in his favor. Regardless, the Gonk has beaten Coma on a few rallies, but every Dakar he either barbecues his bike, runs out of fuel, gets lost or ends up in what I call a Honda vortex. :fpalm

I find Coma's decision to stop racing an interesting one. Without reading anyone else's previous comments on it, I think Kurt's death really got to him and affected his racing. I suspect after Kurt, racing was not as enjoyable as it used to be, and as much as we like Toby, maybe Toby's presence reminded him of Kurt too much. That coupled with stepping down having won 5 Dakar's and raced in 12 of them already, maybe lead to him to think that it was time. He grown up has our Mark, and I for one will miss following him.
