That's why I opened thread with a PING, meaning the page is there but no info yet

Finally, they are starting to address the mapping issue!
Another particularity of off-road races is the ability to demonstrate navigational skills, using the stage road-book as the main navigational tool. In order to compensate for the anticipatory advantage which teams who are best equipped with map-reading software have, the location of the special sections has been kept intentionally vague. This is why only the overall distance of the liaison section will be communicated, until the distribution of the road-books the night before each stage.
To encourage and reward navigational ability, the location of the WPMs (Hidden Way Point) has partially been dissociated from the creation of the road-book. Reflexes which have been acquired over several years will therefore be turned on their head and will sometimes be useless, as drivers and navigators are asked to attentively but freely interpret the indications given to them.
All the best with preparations in LeHavre Team RPA...
Tuesday 5th January : "Those hunting down the leaders will be on high alert during this route, which has been designed for opportunists"
Barreda out by stage 3.
13/01/2016 Stage 10, second part of the second Marathon stage.
A unique start formula for the Belén - La Rioja stage, now called the “Fiambalá super-special section” which corresponds to the second part of the marathon stage for the motorbikes and quad bikes. On the basis of times recorded the previous day, the ten fastest motorbikes, the ten fastest cars and the five fastest trucks will set off together, at three minute intervals. For the first time, world class motorbikes, cars and trucks will drive together, requiring the initial cars to hit the trail on an almost untouched route. This highly unusual starting order is likely to even out the odds and change the tactics adopted … the day before!
The pattern of the race can often be seen in the motorbike category, where the winner the day before often loses his advantage to the other competitors as he opens the day’s racing. This should be countered by changes in the starting order. As in the car race, the first ten motorbikes will set off on the special sections at three minute intervals. As a result, they will only group together at a later stage, leaving the best navigators with the possibility of creating significant gaps.
Pablo Rodriguez, #53.
Had originally signed up and paid entry for Paolo Ceci but HRC decided taking my rider behind my back was there best solution.
"Will set off together at 3 minute intervals" ??? - so does this mean that 10 cars, 10 bikes and 5 trucks will be within a single group separated by time - so 25 X 3 minutes 75 mins to set them all off before anyone else starts???
I like the 3 mins for the top 10 bikes though.
I read it as a Lemans start. First wave has 10 bikes, 10 cars and 5 trucks. 3 minutes later the second wave which also consists of a mix of vehicles
Based on time, cars bikes and trucks will be mixed?
Love the Dakar, no one can even figure out what the rules are
Well, you won't be dissapointed with Cacha, he's awesome!
Good luck, Chavo
This sounds terrifyingly dangerous. I'd hope the ASO goes with Too olds version.
I've been planning something like a land rush start for Sonora Rally on one particular day. The start would be an immediate HP section heading to some distant point, traveling across wide open terrain where visibility is good in all directions (a big dry lake would be ideal for this). If bikes and cars were to start at the same moment (still not settled for Sonora Rally), they could have slightly different destination points so they head off on slightly different headings so as to not mix. All bikes on the right, and all cars on the left. If done right I don't see a problem with it.
The day before is 285km for all, bike quad car truck, for bike quad it is/was the first part of the second Marathon stage, that explains the difference, the length in total km.
first fastest, 10 bikes 10 cars, 5 trucks. The new day for all the SS length is 278 km, ( same track) the day’s stage presents the longest dune section in the shared history of the Dakar and Fiambala, off-piste for most of the time.
Who where the fastest last day, start with 3 minutes gap, Car1 C2 C3 Truck1 Bike1 C4 C5 Bike2 T2 Bike3 C6 Bike4 T3 Bike5 C7 Bike6 C8 Bike7 T4 C9 Bike8 Bike9 C10 T5 Bike10, then left bikes, then left quads, the left cars, then left trucks.
ODD, trucks are not mentioned at stage 5 they have a total liason?
Is Honda still using the HRC twin cam motor
Don't like the idea from a safety point of view - that's a real worry as bikes and cars will be out there together, but there again the slower less experienced riders have been putting up with that for years
It is as I read it, could be different.......................time........................
DAKAR 2016 competitors list:
Interesting in the MOTO category:
No number #1 (understandably)
Many Husqvarna's in the mix... (notably Quintanilla is on the Husky)
A lot of new fast (enduro) names in the top 50...
Interesting in the AUTO's:
5 Peugeots listed...
One Gordini... a fleet of MINI's, ton's of Toyota's...
and Carlos Sousa back in a Mitsubishi... (no Great wall effort this year?)
